So Looking forward to dancing with our Alaska Kuteeyaa Dancers Family and visiting "Box of Daylight" series in the show, and having a table side by side with my daughters during the festival, horaaaay!!!!
Shaadootlaa is a distinguished Tlingit artist, educator, and cultural bearer with over 30 years of experience in traditional arts, including Chilkat and Raven’s Tail weaving, cedar bark basketry, beadwork, and hide sewing. She has taught Native arts and cultural practices throughout Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Her teaching roles have included work with the University of Southeast Alaska, the Nisqually and Suquamish Tribe, Sealaska Heritage Institute, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Shaadootlaa holds degrees from the University of Alaska Southeast and Northwest Indian College, where she specialized in Native American Arts and Cultural Studies. Her current role at the University of Southeast Alaska in Sitka, she teaches beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes in Raven’s Tail weaving. Through her art, storytelling, and education, she continues to preserve and pass on Indigenous knowledge to future generations.
