Mujeres que nos inspiran, parte II:

1. Kaeli Swift: es especialista en etología aviar, su investigación se centra fundamentalmente en los cuervos; le interesa lo que pueden enseñarnos sobre la evolución de la cognición y los comportamientos sociales.

2. Emilia Currás (1927-2020) fue científica y escritora. Contribuyó a la internacionalización de la ciencia, a la creación de organizaciones científicas y capacitación de profesionales de la información. Nunca interiorizó la jubilación laboral. Solo la jubiló una fractura de cadera cinco años antes de 2020, año en que fallece por la covid-19.

3. Toshiko Yuasa: (1909-1980) Ella fue la primera mujer física nuclear en Japón. Investigadora en el Centro Nacional para la Investigación Científica en Francia.

4. Annie Mae Turner Taylor Randall: Pionera en estadística matemática, fue una de las primeras "chicas gubernamentales", durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial y fue la primera afroamericana profesional en varias de las agencias gubernamentales en las que trabajó.
Women who inspire us, part II:

1. Kaeli Swift: she is a specialist in avian ethology, her research focuses mainly on crows; She is interested in what they can teach us about the evolution of cognition and social behaviors.

2. Emilia Currás (1927-2020) was a scientist and writer. She contributed to the internationalization of science, the creation of scientific organizations and the training of information professionals. She never internalized retirement from work. She was only retired for a hip fracture five years before 2020, the year she died from covid-19.

3. Toshiko Yuasa: (1909-1980) She was the first female nuclear physicist in Japan. She is a researcher at the National Center for Scientific Research in France.

4. Annie Mae Turner Taylor Randall: A pioneer in mathematical statistics, she was one of the first "government girls" during World War II and was the first African-American professional in several of the government agencies in which she worked.

2. Herminia Pasantes Ordóñez: es una bióloga, investigadora y académica mexicana, investiga los mecanismos celulares y moleculares que ocurren durante una serie de neuropatologías como epilepsias, isquemia, entre otras.

3. Leyda Rimarachín: es bióloga y guardiana de Bosque Berlín, en las alturas de Amazonas.

4. Georgina Mace: Ecologista (1953-2020), desarrolló la Lista Roja de Especies Amenazadas de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza en 1964, el listado de animales, hongos y vegetales más amplio a nivel mundial.

1. Kathrin Barboza Marquez: is a Bolivian biologist, expert in the research and conservation of bats.

Dear friends! Last week bell lungs, Laura Luna Castillo and Lunetario Editorial sent £750 ($20000 MXN) to Umbral Axochiatl Xochimilco A. C. an axolotl conservation charity in Mexico City. They will use this donation build a habitat for the newborn axolotl, to be able to reintegrate them into their natural environment! (baby axolotl pictures follow).

The remaining £450 is donated to Scottish Seabird Centre, making the total amount raised from the Remembrance Species 2020 compilation (after bandcamp /paypal fees) £1200!

Thanks so much to everyone for supporting the compilation which we put out to mark Lost Species Day on November 30th last year. Thank you to all the artists that donated their works for this cause!
¡Queridos amigos! La semana pasada, bell lungs Laura Luna Castillo y Lunetario Editorial enviaron £750 ($ 20000 MXN) a Umbral Axochiatl Xochimilco A.
