Our friends at Male Allies Challenging Sexism are doing great work. Head over and support them and donate if you can.

On 11 July MACS founders Chris Steven Green & Björn are doing the Morecambe Cross Bay Walk for the charity One Woman At A Time.

OWAAT is a charity that empowers women and girls to overcome the challenges of forced marriage, Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM), and domestic abuse.

The MACS team is hoping to raise £200 for the charity, in addition to the £40 booking fee, which can:

→ Provide over 6 months of safety, food, and education in a refuge/school;

→ provide reusable sanitary wear for 20 girls for 5 years

→ enable 10 women to become a nurse, teacher, or attend university or

→ provide 13 women with a plough, seeds, and training to grow food to feed her family and earn an income.

We ask men across the UK to support our fundraising efforts for One Woman at a Time by:

Crucial questions we must ask Russell Brand after his statements in his interview with Megyn Kelly about s*xually exploiting a 16 year old girl.

1. How can s*x be both ‘consensual’ and ‘exploitative’?
2. How did you check the child you had ‘consensual s*x’ with was 16?
3. How did you check if it was consensual throughout?
4. Did the girl have capacity to consent? E.g. was she not under the influence of drugs or alcohol?
5. In which jurisdiction did this take place?
6. What were the laws surrounding (statutory) r**e and consent there at the time (approx. 2005)?

And lastly:

How can we improve societal views and legislation regarding abuse of power and consent and protect vulnerable children and young people?

Too many girls and young women have been s*xually abused and exploited by men, particularly in the music and wider entertainment industry.

35 years of 'Alors Regarde’ a.k.a
35 years of s*xual abuse!

8 women have testified that French actor and singer Bruel s*xually assaulted them between 1992 and 2019.

Despite this, Bruel is scheduled to perform 58 times between 16 June and 5 December in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. His massive tour is being promoted referring to his “legendary album” “unforgettable tour”.

The recent controversy of Kanye West being denied entry to the UK for his antisemitism has shown once again that the government does not take the issue of misogyny and MVAWG seriously.

The images you are looking are taken from Kanye West's music video for the song 'Monster'. There are 'dead' women hanging by their necks in lingerie. A woman's lifeless body is stuffed inside a sofa. 2 'dead' women are lying on a bed, Kanye is next to them manipulating their bodies. Later he is seen rapping whilst holding the decapitated head of a woman.

Imagine this in any other context. If this was depicting any other group of people there would be outrage. It surely would have been a talking point by MP's calling for his cancellation. Yet as it is women, nothing is said.

This whole incident has shown everyone very clearly that politicians are not taking the issue of misogyny & male violence towards women and girls seriously. And we are appalled by it.

𝐖𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝

We are pleased to hear that Wireless Festival has been cancelled due to the Home Office denying entry to Ye due to his antisemitism.

However we are utterly appalled that from all politicians who called for the cancellation, all the companies that pulled out, and all the media platforms reporting the story, not one of them highlighted Ye's misogyny and violence against women.
This is exactly the same situation as took place in Australia when they made the decision to ban Kanye West.

Keir Starmer said :
"This government stands firmly with the Jewish community, and we will not stop in our fight to confront and defeat the poison of antisemitism.
"We will always take the action necessary to protect the public and uphold our values."
As usual this solidarity and action does not seem to apply to half the population of the UK. Yet again showing he has very little interest in actually tackling the issue of MVAWG.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting said:
"If he wants forgiveness, it's not my forgiveness he needs. It's the forgiveness of the Jewish communities and I don't think he's done anything to earn it."
This is all very true and we agree, but how about the women he has abused and degraded? Ye has never shown the slightest interest in addressing this. But it seems that thought hasn't occurred to Mr.Streeting.

The list goes on of politicians who have spoken out against the performance and not one takes a stance against misogyny. Not one calls for solidarity with women & girls. Not one shows that they have any interest in doing what is desperately needed to combat what home secretary Shabana Mahmood describes as a "national emergency"

We are left with the bitter reality once again that misogyny, s*xism and male violence against women and girls is just not taken seriously in the UK.

Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic has defended the decision to book Ye at this years Wireless Festival. He goes on to bizarrely state that he is anti-fascist but we should forgive Ye's antisemitism due to mental health.

He says absolutely nothing about Ye's misogyny & violence towards women. Yet another example of how these issues are not even considered. We find it reprehensible that violence towards women and blatant s*xism means so little to these people.

We will not forgive Kanye West. We will do all we can to ensure this man does not step on stage in London in July. We will continue to highlight his misogyny and hold these companies, politicians and media platforms accountable for their complete lack of interest and complacency on the issue.
