"Artista visual, curadora y gestora cultural. Es Maestra en Estudios Visuales por la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México y Licenciada en Artes Visuales por la Universidad de Guadalajara. Actualmente cursa el Doctorado en Artes y Diseño en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. De 2014 a 2019 fue coordinadora de comunicación y curadora en el Museo de la Ciudad de México. Su obra reflexiona sobre las utopías ideológicas, políticas y sociales influidas por el anarquismo y el feminismo contemporáneos a partir de la representación simbólica de diferentes fenómenos sociales relacionados con la insurrección como las protestas sociales que suceden en distintos espacios de México y Latinoamérica.

Ha exhibido su obra de manera individual en espacios como Ex Convento del Carmen, Galería Apollinaire, Galería Ajolote y Museo López Portillo en Guadalajara, Jalisco y en la galería Clínica Regina en la Ciudad de México. Ha participado en numerosas exhibiciones colectivas en espacios nacionales e internacionales como V Bienal Internacional de arte desde aquí 2020, Bucaramanga, Colombia; Galería Bango, Oviedo, España; Museo La Ene, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Fashion & Textile Museum, Londres, Inglaterra; Museo de la Ciudad de México, Museo Memoria y Tolerancia, Galería Pablo Goebel así como en los espacios Biquini Wax, Los 14, La Quiñonera, y Galería Ladrón, en la Ciudad de México; Ex Convento del Carmen, Galería Apollinaire, Laboratorio de arte Jorge Martínez en Guadalajara; Refugio para Emergencias Visuales en Toluca, Edo. De México y Museo Casa Diego Rivera, en Guanajuato. Ha colaborado con diferentes artistas en acciones performáticas colectivas en el Museo Universitario del Chopo, Memorial Circular de Morelia, Centro Cultural El Rule, Instituto Mexicano para la Justicia y Biquini Wax. Ha elaborado ilustración y diseño de arte para un par de películas mexicanas."

Canela Art Gallery is our first exhibition of QDTBIPoC local artists and co-conspirators. In our application process we asked artists to help us get the ball rolling, suggesting other artists they admire, and to be in conversation with us about how to support marginalized artists.
In this show we brought together work that speaks to the complicated aspects of representation, but also contrasts of beauty, beliefs, and who gets the ‘benefit of the doubt’.
We are excited about all the connections that have yet to be made.

En esta muestra reunimos trabajos que hablan de los aspectos complicados de la representación, pero también contrastes de belleza, creencias y quién obtiene el "beneficio de la duda".

Canela Art Gallery is a new artist-run, international group prioritizing art by local QDTBIPoC (Q***r, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Color) artists. Hopefully, even with social distancing, we can use this opportunity to get to know and support one another.

Co-Directors Lester Aguirre (CDMX), Gabi Magaly (TX), and Cedric Tai (CA), will be curating this week-long pop-up exhibition in Dolores 52.

Lesdavag is a Mexican American interdisciplinary artist whose work regards concepts of life, death, and humanity. His art is a realization that space and time are not objective phenomena, but rather the tools our mind uses to connect everything – energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only change in form. Through his art, Lesdavag explores memories and events that made an impact on his life and the people around him. For the most part, he uses raw materials like dirt and wood and in some cases found objects, to convey his concepts.

Lesdavag has been part of several art exhibitions in the United States and Mexico, most recently exhibited at the art gallery in the Mexican Consulate of Tucson. He was born in Denver, Colorado, and studied Fine Arts in Tucson at the University of Arizona. Currently, Lesdavag resides in Mexico City where he continues developing new works of art.
