Mazatlán friends, some people who are aware that Bodie and I have a new project, are asking for details so that they can attend the previews just before Christmas. Thus this announcement:
Murder in MAZATLÁN, Mystery Dinner Theater
Enhance your Mexican experience with a murder mystery! This is Mazatlán’s newest evening of great food and fun entertainment. Audiences of all types will love the mix of audience friendly participation, comedy, and drama, with good food. Unravel the clues, crack the case, take home the prize and the glory, for solving “My Big Fat Mexican Murder”! Raconteur and all around interesting local bloke Bodie Kellogg has set up an amusing and exciting genuinely interactive evening of murder and mayhem. Your seat at a table which is sure to include murder suspects, awaits you, along with an impressive dinner and a couple of glasses of wine or beer. There is also a cash bar.
This unique, original, and highly amusing murder mystery show is for people who enjoy a fun "whodunnit"! The way it’s done in this show, that should be everyone. Choose your level of involvement: amused watcher, character involved in a small way, or very suspicious character.
The characters in the show will be as large as life from the time you arrive, and you will become part of the tableau, as you become witness, sleuth, and perhaps, also accomplice, to the crime. You could even turn out to be the murderer! The story is played out in scenes as you sit back and enjoy the comedy and the characters including other guests, as the plot unfolds. Between each Act, dinner courses are served, and drinks are always available. At several different stages everyone will have a chance to ask questions. Towards the end everyone is challenged to determine the method of the crime, the motive, and the murderer.
This will all take place during the season Tuesdays in the Sabalo area, and Mondays in Old Mazatlán (Centro Historico). We envisage that previews will take place in Centro on Mondays 22nd and 29th December, and in Sabalo on Tuesday 23rd and 30th December 2014.
The show contains sexual innuendo, but we doubt whether there would be many who would be genuinely offended.
The previews ticket price is $365 pesos per person (includes dinner, two drinks as above, show, and tax, NOT including gratuity) for watchers, and for those who want a “role with lines” or a “role of consequence”, an additional 50 pesos thus $415 pesos. We recommend early bookings, particularly for those wanting a large role. Come on, ham it up!
