Cindy (Miller) Rietveldt December 6, 1951 - August 13, 2020
I was so lucky to be able to walk so many miles together and to share so many adventures together with Cindy my high school sweetheart and love of my life. We shared over fifty years together. The world lost a creative, adventurous, loving woman who cared deeply for her communities. Cindy wanted to reach out to everyone, but time and her strength slipped away too quickly. She wanted to remind everyone to hug your loved ones. If you feel you have to do something more – donate to the Cancer Society or Yucatan Giving Outreach or Upper Valley MEND or any organization that helps your community. Just be kind and love one another.

Cindy is participating in 100 Days of Art with . She enjoys working with wire to make poseable skeletons for her work in papier-mâché. Some of these figures may be used that way. But she is hoping that after making 100 pieces her ability to fashion the wire will be improved so that she will be producing sculptures she feels are "finished" and displayable. Here are the first 20 pieces -

A new piece - inspired by the ¨graveyard¨ theme of our First Tuesday Artists group this month here in Mérida and the ¨Shushing Angels¨ throughout the local cemetery - and by the sweet dogs everywhere here that so often we watch helplessly.

So, I decided to do a series of Self-Destructive Sculptures. The first sculpture in the series will eventually be destroyed by the wind. It's interesting, but I felt like something was missing. The question of the sculpture being Suicidal or is it Predestination was already answered by me.
