Authentic Handmade Oaxacan Rugs Weavers Rolando and Naty are originally from Teotitlán del Valle, a Zapotec indigenous community in the state of Oaxaca.

They now live in Bucerías where they run their own business selling their wool products. They learned to weave when they were children, using a pedal loom and coloring the wool themselves with dyes made from plants and other natural ingredients. Their intricate work is covered in geometric shapes and symbols, each with special meaning. They also take special orders and can make rugs with custom de

signs and colors. The birth of Julia’s started in 2006 when Rolando’s brother and father invited him to come to Bucerias for work. Seven years later Naty joined him and they had their beautiful daughter Julia. She is currently three and a half, ready to attend primary school. During the day Naty holds down the fort at their normal stand just a block away from the kissing bridge in central bucerias. Rolando travels to various markets throughout the area to spread their product even further. During the high season it's very hard for them to find free time but in the summer they enjoy returning home to Oaxaca to visit family and continue weaving. Julia’s name comes from the daughter of the Bautista family. She is an adorable 3 ½ year old who is currently attending el colegio de bucerias. When she's not in school she loves playing in the house and watching mom and dad weave. Rolando and Naty are excited to share their products as well as the intricate process that creates them.
