|| Lucius Chiccio Banda Biography ||

Lucius Banda was born on 17 August 1970 in Sosola Village in Group Village headman Kapalamula and Traditional Authority Nsamala in Balaka District of Southern Malawi.

His music legacy dates way back in 1983 when he was thirteen years old when he started singing with his brother Paul Banda and leader of Alleluya Band.

He first appeared on stage in 1985 with his brother's led Alleluya Band.

Lucius Banda started his music career while in primary school at Mponda FP School which lies near the catholic parish in Balaka.
To further his music career Lucius Banda decided to go to music school in South Africa.

This dream was fulfilled in 1993 when he joined Dorkey house in Johannesburg, where he spent one full year studying music.

He recorded his first album titled 'Son Of A Poor Man' at shandel music studio with the help of producer George Arigone on backing vocals.

His album became popular because of hits like Mabala, Get up stand up, Linda and Life On Earth.

In 1997, Lucius Banda formed his own band, Zembani after recording his fourth album (Take Over) with the intention to help local and up keeping musicians in Malawi

He was controversial to Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda's regime.

He was the first Malawian musician to sing openly against political oppression in Malawi during the decades of one-party rule.
Lucius has been host to many popular musicians, helping to begin the careers of Mlaka Maliro, Paul Chaphuka, Billy Kaunda, Cosi Chiwalo, Wendy Harawa, Emma Masauko, Enort Mbandambanda and Charles Nsaku.

Lucius Banda has experienced the hardest of times as a musician as his music has either been banned censored and sometimes denied venues and segregated against by government.

Despite all this, his music remained celebrated.

|| BIOGRAPHY OF SAULOS CHILIMA ||💔

Saulos Klaus Chilima was born 12 February 1973 in Ntcheu District. His father, Henderson Brown Chilima came from Ching'anga Village, T/A Njewa in Lilongwe while his mother came from Mbirintengeranji Village, T/A Champiti in Ntcheu.

He held the record of the most serving democratic vice president of Malawi since 2014. Chilima also served as the Minister of Economic Planning and Development, as well as Head of Public Sector Reforms.

Before joining politics, Chilima held key leadership positions in various multi-national companies including Unilever, Coca-Cola and Airtel Malawi.

In February 2014, Chilima was announced as the running mate of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and later became veep. Chilima later left DPP to form the United Transformation Movement (UTM), a party that was launched on 21st July in 2018 and participated in the nullified 2019 presidential elections.

UTM later partnered with MCP and other parties to form Tonse Alliance and collectively won 2020 fresh presidential election.

Academically, Chilima went to HHI Primary School before being selected to Mtendere Secondary School in Dedza. After completion of secondary education, he got selected to the Chancellor College where he obtained Bachelor's Degree in Social Science (Majoring Economics) in 1994 and Master's Degree in Knowledge Management years later.

He proceeded with his education journey to England and got his PhD in Knowledge Management at University of Bolton.

Unfortunately, Chilima proudly called SKC died in a plane crush on June 10, 2024 in Chikangawa Forest.

He survived with a wife, Mary Nkhamanyachi, a daughter to former Polytechnic lecturer, and two children, Sean and Elizabeth.

KODI WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MALAWI

Dedza Police have arrested three men in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on 13 January this year, at Kapesi village under Traditional Authority Kachere in the district.

Police spokesperson in the district, Sergeant Beatrice Jefita, identifies the suspects as Vincent Damiano, Edward Moffat and Edward Uona.

She said following investigations police apprehended the three and recovered an AK-47 rifle together with six rounds of ammunition believed to have been used during the robbery.

In January, unknown thieves who were armed with an AK-47 rifle and a pistol attacked a businessman and robbed him of K47 million in cash.

According to Jefita, investigations have also revealed that the recovered firearm may have been used in the murder of businessman Victor Biyeni, who was killed in September last year.

The three suspects are expected to appear before court soon to answer charges related to the offences.
