HAPPY INTERNATIONAL POETRY DAY.

As we celebrate this day, we will be posting some of the poems composed by our members.

Good beginning is halfway done. We start with a piece of poem composed by Dr Wokomaatani Malunga, and this one is a special dedication to GIBO PEARSON (MALAWI'S musician behind IDZATHERA MA PENALTY)

GIBBOH PEARSON

Perched on a branch of a mango tree you anxiously
Waited for rescue as the
Relentless rain poured
Incessantly making you
Wonder if your life
Would end in penalties
As the country you
Had taken by storm
With your effervescent Phalombe music dominating the airwaves day in day out
Despairingly watched helpless
Wondering what would become
Of their instantaneous hero
Trapped by ruthless Napolo
Revisiting Phalombe it had
Ravaged in 1992 with ruthlessness that shocked
A nation as a whole boma
Got swept away in the middle
Of an ominous night
Wearing the dark garb of doom and gloom announced by rocks
And boulders furiously rolling
Down a shaking mountain
Roaring the message of death
Gibo Pearson an early death is
Not for a rare music gem like you quietly sleeping and dreaming about new gripping
Lyrics to be unleashed on ears
Hankering for your unique sound delivered with infectious
Enthusiam digging deep into
The well of creativity storing
Issues you weave into your
Heart-lifting and soul-soothing
Songs enveloping a nation with joy more valuable than the mattress on which you floated
Unsuspecting of disaster taking away from you the very musical
Equipment that has made many
Discover the beauty of your down to earth music accentuating your reputation as the charismatic artist of the moment uniting generations with consummate art like
No other as you packed venues with songs speaking to people's culture in a language and a philosophy they couln identify with as you became their richly endowed and eloquent spokesman defying all odds
When you cheated death on a mango branch while nature revolted aggressively against mankind sedated by slumber.
