As a means of sustaining the lives of the target groups we work with much as healthy living is a great human aspect, the Determinants introduced Girls Health Model clubs. One of the clubs is *Zotheka Mponda Girls Health Club* in Traditional Authority Malemia in Zomba district (South Malawi). Among other things, *The Determinants* builds AgriBusiness skills in the girls in order to be able to take agriculture as business which in turn may sustain their social-economic lifestyles. A model Maize Garden was set in August.

During the day of October 17 2021, *The Determinants* visited the model garden to appreciate the progress. Find below the pictures.

The Determinants on Friday (15th October 2021) were part of the activity organized by Afripads(An African based Organisation in reusable pad making) country team in Zomba at Chinamwali where they were distributing Menstrual pads specifically reusable ones to teenage girls & young women.

The Determinants were trusted to provide a health talk & other activities related to Menstrual hygiene.

The garden now is green. We are doing the best we can to promote health to Ndizotheka girls club.
We are not ending it here, we still have alot to give to our girls.

The Determinants *Nutrition Lead Alkim Mwale(Higher Diploma-Nutrion and Food Security)* assured the leadership of the model club (Zotheka) that his team (Determinants) is ready to support the initiative for their best results. " It is our expectation that the leadership of the model club will make sure that the club performance should be so encouraging and progressing. We look forward to best results with maximum monitoring and support from our side." Said the Nutrition professional to be . "Our team is well organised and focused. It is this fact that it will make sure that we all see the desired results coming out. Among other things, the Determinants will find market for the produce. Mwale continued.

*Clifford Mkandawire* who is the Determinants *Research Lead (Higher Diploma-Public Health)*, said the results of this initiative will decide whether the initiative should be sustained and be scaled up."The results will inform us on its sustainability and a possible expansion. We need this whole thing to see these girls economically stable as well as improved living standards (Health and wellbeing). At least they should be able to afford their basic needs as individuals by March 2021". *Mkandawire explained*

The Determinants are expected to hit Chiradzulu and Machinga with the same initiatives so soon.

Just after two complete days when the *Determinants* visited one of the high learning institutions in Zomba (Domasi Development College-DDC), the Students Team showed up to its adolescent girls and young women health club. The visit to the club was to monitor the progress on the making of menstrual reusable pads following the training offered as one way of improving girls menstrual Health Hygiene in turn washing away shame and school absenteeism among girls due to menstrual experiences.

Beside the monitoring, the Determinants team also used the same day to appreciate it's newly allocated Model Garden. The team has challenged the community through the Chief that one way of improving the girls health and well-being is to have economic empowering activities such as agri-based ones that may be planned for food (Nutrition supplements) and commercial purposes (For sale).

*The Determinants* have committed to set the Model Garden to be one of the most achieved plans as per their focus. Chief Mponda has also committed to support the Team as he stressed that the Team's (Determinants) Objectives are very strategic and life changing much as girls and young women in his area are concerned.

A land has been allocated for the Determinants through its *Zotheka Model Club.*

"We are very happy as a club to have this initiative in our community through our club. Zotheka Model Club will make sure that the anticipated outcomes of such initiatives should be well met." Said the Club *Chairperson Tadala Mkwamba*. Speaking to one of the community mothers who has been acting as a matron for the girls club, the girls must show their undoubted commitment towards the model garden. "The girls should be very serious for this dream to come true. Its their time to prove to you that they are really willing to be receiving more initiatives from you as a students' entity." Said the Mother. "My plea is that you should continue supporting these girls.
