Are you ready for the first edition of the Sounds of Malawi Music Festival? A free event, Saturday 1st of August, in Ndirande, Blantyre. Celebrating the legends of local music of Malawi. We have been producing for the past ten years the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Sessions every Thursday night at Jacaranda Cultural Center, now Alliance Française de Blantyre. In partnership with music producer Harlan Steinberger, Hen House Studios and MASS MoCA, we facilitated Keturah's travels to Los Angeles to record her latest album; as well as Kasambwe Brothers' travels to Massachusetts, USA to also record their album and perform; and we produced several recording sessions at Jacaranda Vocational School sound studios in Chigumula - with the first Sounds of Malawi compilation album planned for release in the coming weeks. The Sounds of Malawi Music Festival is thus a culmination of our efforts to celebrate, preserve and pass on to the youth the heritage of Malawi's traditional music and arts. Join us on 1st August!
