This performance marked a historical transition in the Maldivian live music scene - which at the time consisted of only traditional music or Bollywood influenced classical style performances with classical

instruments - and ushered in an era of streamlined rock bands modelled after the likes of The Beatles, The Ventures and The Shadows of the West.

🎸ROCK 50 marks the 50th anniversary of the Maldivian "rock band revolution" and will showcase the stories of how the Maldivian live music scene as we know it today was established.
