On the birth anniversary of the legendary author, novelist and literary icon Munshi Premchand, Vacoas Rang Bhoomi Kala Mandir pays its heartfelt tribute to one of India's greatest storytellers.

His timeless works continue to inspire generations with powerful messages of humanity, compassion and social justice. Through his stories, he gave a voice to the common people and transformed Indian literature forever.

Missed our houseful performance of Munshi Premchand's Budhi Kaaki? Here's another opportunity!

Following the overwhelming response and a packed auditorium, we are delighted to announce a second FREE performance on Monday, 3 August 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Serge Constantin Theatre, Vacoas.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hindi Speaking Union for bringing up this project, especially to Dr. Anjalee Chintamunnee.

A special thank you goes to Hon. Mahen Gondeea, Minister of Arts and Culture, for proposing this second performance and for his confidence in the talent of Mauritian artists. His continued support and belief that local theatre deserves greater recognition and appreciation are truly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to watch "Burhi Kaaki." Your overwhelming support, a housefull auditorium, and the standing ovation at the end of the performance meant more to us than words can describe. We are truly humbled.

"Burhi Kaaki" is more than just a play. It reminds us that our elderly are not a burden. They are our roots, our blessings, and a reflection of what we ourselves will one day become. Let us love, respect, and care for them with the dignity they deserve.

First and foremost, my sincere gratitude goes to the Hindi Speaking Union, especially Behenji Anjali, for believing in us and entrusting us with this wonderful project. Thank you for your constant guidance, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the Hon. Minister of Arts and Culture, the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the High Commissioner of India, whose presence at the event was a great encouragement to local artists and to the promotion of Hindi theatre in Mauritius.

🎭 Vacoas Rang Bhoomi Kala Mandir Drama Academy was honoured to present the play “Emergency Response for Living Heritage in Context of Conflict and Disaster” on the occasion of the International Day for Monuments and Sites.

The event was organised by the National Heritage Fund at Serge Constantin Theatre, Vacoas, bringing together artists, heritage practitioners, and cultural stakeholders to highlight the importance of safeguarding our living heritage during times of conflict and disaster.

Through this meaningful theatrical presentation, our team aimed to raise awareness about the protection, preservation, and resilience of cultural heritage for future generations.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the National Heritage Fund for trusting us with this important project and for providing us with the opportunity to contribute through theatre.

A big congratulations to all the artists, technicians, and volunteers whose dedication, passion, and hard work made this production a success. Your commitment to preserving and promoting our cultural heritage through the performing arts is truly commendable.
