Orchid Society of Mauritius The Orchid Society of Mauritius was founded in 1980 by a small group of local orchid enthusiasts. Its goal is to promote orchid culture.

Over the years the membership of the Society has increased significantly and now stands at more than one hundred regular members. The main goal of the Society, as stipulated in its Articles, is to promote orchid culture.

What if one simple invitation could spark a lifelong love of orchids? 💚

Today, the Orchid Society of Mauritius is excited to launch our new Orchid Ambassador Programme — a little initiative with a big purpose: sharing the joy of orchids and growing our orchid family.

And this time, we’re looking to YOU! 👀🌿

You could be one of the people we select to discover the wonderful world of orchids, receive your very first orchid, and become an Orchid Ambassador at our Annual Orchid Show at Plaza, 3–4 October.

Our 45th Annual Orchid Show is shaping up to be a wonderful weekend of orchids, learning, creativity and community.

🏆 ORCHID DISPLAY & COMPETITIONS
Admire exceptional orchids and, this year, for the first time, a special category will welcome non-member entries.

👧 orKIDS CORNER
A fun introduction to the world of orchids through drawing, painting and colouring. Pre-booking required by 26 September.

🎓 EXPERT WORKSHOP
Hands-on guidance, live demonstrations and practical advice on orchid care and repotting.

🌺 AND OF COURSE… THE ORCHIDS!
Beautiful displays and plants to discover and take home.

🌺 46 years of passion, friendship and magnificent orchids! 🌺
What a wonderful celebration it was at Voilà Hotel Bagatelle, as members and friends of the Orchid Society of Mauritius came together to mark another special milestone.
From beautiful orchids and shared memories to laughter, friendship and heartfelt testimonials, the occasion was a wonderful reminder of what makes our Society so special: a shared passion that has brought people together for 46 years. 💚
And, of course, no orchid celebration would be complete without recognising the beauty and dedication of our growers! 🏆🌺
Congratulations to Brigitte, winner of Best Orchid on Show No.14, with this stunning arrangement of Epidendrum orchids— a beautiful display of colour, elegance and passion for orchids, and a truly deserving winner. 👏🌸

What a wonderful afternoon! 🌸

An engaging and informative afternoon at Gros Cailloux, featuring an inspiring presentation by Dr Anjusha Durbarry, Director of the SSR Botanic Garden, on orchid conservation and the vital role of botanic gardens in preserving biodiversity.

It was a pleasure to see so many members sharing their passion, exchanging ideas and enjoying each other's company. Together, we continue to foster a deeper appreciation for orchids and the importance of conserving our natural heritage.

A highlight of each of our gatherings is the Mini Orchid Show, where members are encouraged to bring one of their flowering orchids for everyone to admire and vote for. Congratulations to Shashi Puddoo, whose beautiful exhibit ‘Coelogyne Tenella’ was voted Best Orchid on Show this afternoon! 🌺🏆

🌸 Celebrate Mother’s Day with Orchids at Quartier des Serres 🌸

Dear members,
You are cordially invited to join us on 30th May at Quartier des Serres for a special Mother’s Day celebration dedicated to orchid lovers and plant enthusiasts alike.

As part of the event, we are pleased to offer an engaging Orchid Care Workshop & Talk designed for both beginners and experienced growers.

🌿 What you will learn:
• How to care for your orchids throughout the year
• Tips to encourage your orchid to bloom again
• Repotting techniques and choosing the right medium
• Watering and fertilising essentials
• Troubleshooting common orchid problems
• How to identify signs of stress, pests, and disease
• Practical advice for growing healthier, longer-lasting orchids

Whether you already grow orchids or are just starting your collection, this workshop will give you valuable hands-on knowledge to help your plants thrive.

💰 Workshop fee: Rs 600
📍 Venue: Quartier des Serres
📅 Date: 30th May
⏰ Time: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Workshop), as from 12:30 p.m. (Sale of Orchids plants)
