"MY LEATHER HERITAGE ”

My fifth artwork aims to illustrate the evolution of my family's leather involvement over time. My
grandparents were first, then my parents, and now, as a child, it's my turn. I'm eager to use everything
I've learned so far for my newest role and the future, how the material has changed over time, and how it is currently used to create and revitalize contemporary society. I would want to present my last artwork, which is about how I view the world of art and how I use leather when creating art. It is a reference to the new ways leather will be utilized in the future, and I will integrate both plywood and
leather. In my fifth piece, I'll be a seated figure creating something that is larger than me. In terms of painting, there will be the use of abstract forms, and the integration of a leather collage. I highlight in my thoughts the relationship that exists between the leather and myself, and I'm creating my identity as an artist through the process of making art.
The abstract forms that the leather takes on to represent various stages in my creative process are a representation of my journey and self-discovery. In my hands, the leather has evolved from a basic material to a more sophisticated and complicated thing, reflecting this progression. It also represents how we, as aspiring artists, shape and impact the world
outside of our local surroundings.

"A FATHER’S LEGACY ”
In my fourth work of art, I want to depict the bond between a parent and child relationship, or in my
case, a father and daughter. Despite the patriarchal system, there is a great sense of love and respect for one another in my family. Taking into account the relationship between father and daughter, I would like to highlight that, regarding my initial endeavor, my father has consistently been my refuge, especially when considering the massive hole left by my grandfather's death, similar to how leather was originally employed to construct shelters. The significance of the father-daughter bond is something I like to emphasize, ignoring the patriarchal system. We frequently hear the notion, "Behind a successful man, there's a woman," but I personally want to contradict that notion by saying, "Behind a successful girl, there's her father." By doing this, I intend to show my appreciation for his love, dedication, and support as a father.

“ THE UNION OF THREE SISTERS ”
The best representation of women in my family is in my third work of art. My third piece is a continuation of my second piece, which is about my parents, by focusing on the fruit of their love: me and my sisters, who represent who I am. To illustrate my point, I intend to explore three different aspects. Not into the physical side of things here, but how personalities may distinguish people even when they share the same blood. There are three arches, all of which are identical and interconnected seeing as the bond that unites us together is what makes us so powerful despite our differences. My sisters are a part of me, and we are all one.

WHY ARCHES?
Arches have always stood for the ability of people to build enduring, exquisite structures. These buildings, which range from the grandiose arches of Gothic cathedrals to the arches of ancient Rome, are an integral part of our history. Paintings with arches have a deeper aspect and a more expansive sense of scale.
It's essential to keep in mind that we have people in our lives who can support us when times are hard, and when we feel like we can no longer
handle our problems. Our connections can give us the courage and strength we require, just like the
arch. Arches are symbolic of strength, elegance, and beauty, identical to women.

“ A LEATHER LOVE STORY”
My second artwork follows up on my first artwork. After my grandfather left us, my mother, who had
worked with him as a shoemaker, got to work in the leather industry, where she eventually met my
father. The second artwork is still connected with leather and my family, but more focused on my
parents and their trade in the leather industry itself. As leather originates mainly from animals, my painting illustrates both the evolution of the material and its origins. The leather industry also
produces luxurious accessories, which is my parents' source of work. Through leather, two souls have found unconditional love for one another. In my perspective, a couple is united by a profession that holds great significance for them. My mother met my father while pursuing her career in the leather industry. As the material evolves, so does this vocation. Men and women work more effectively when they are together. In addition, the wife constantly supports her husband both at work and in other facets of their lives. We're also discussing the side of leather that has been dyed and prepared to make luxurious accessories, like the green crocodile leather in my artwork. My objective is to portray in my painting my parents' love for their trade as well as for themselves. I make my figures out of plywood, cut them out, and utilize oil paint. There are a few elements that surround the two figures of my father and my mother. I painted and cut the elements to reflect the leather industry while also giving the impression of which one is real leather and which is just painted.

“ IN THE SHADOW OF THE LAST SHOE ”
I've devoted my first artwork to my grandfather and his profession as a shoemaker. My grandfather is
one of my most treasured memories; he passed away leaving a huge void in my life. However, he also left behind a profession, which I wanted to investigate through art as it is disappearing in Mauritius. My idea is to raise a profession that has long been a part of my family and has played a significant role in bringing men and women together. My concept is based on the feeling I get when I think of my grandfather, the feeling of being alone, surrounded by certain objects that remind me of him. It's like traveling through my memories of him and every tool he touched contains a memory of him, but what's most important and precious is his heart; as strong as leather. The heart is life and it refers to the fact that he gave his life for me. He gave his heart to fill the void in me. In addition, I've decided to exhibit the shoe lasts he used to work with, so that you can see how valuables these are and how impressive it is.
