À l’occasion de la JournĂ©e mondiale de l’ocĂ©an, un atelier OcĂ©an a Ă©tĂ© organisĂ© Ă  World of Seashells, Ă  Bel Ombre. 🐚

Cet atelier interactif et ludique a permis d’approfondir la comprĂ©hension des systĂšmes ocĂ©aniques, de la biodiversitĂ© marine et des impacts des activitĂ©s humaines sur les Ă©cosystĂšmes marins.

Un moment d’échange, de rĂ©flexion et d’apprentissage autour d’un sujet qui nous concerne tous : l’ocĂ©an.

Rencontrez Magdalena, une passion nĂ©e au fil du temps 🐚

Elle travaille au musée depuis son ouverture en décembre 2019. Son parcours a commencé en 2016 aux cÎtés du conchyophile mauricien Mr Le Court de Billot. Au départ, elle connaissait les coquillages par leur nom, puis elle a beaucoup appris à ses cÎtés.

En grandissant, elle voyait les coquillages comme de simples souvenirs, avant d’en dĂ©couvrir leur beautĂ© et leur importance. Vivre prĂšs de la mer a nourri sa curiositĂ© et sa passion. Aujourd’hui, elle partage ses connaissances avec les visiteurs tout en continuant Ă  apprendre.

On l’a tous fait au moins une fois : porter une coquille Ă  son oreille pour Ă©couter le bruit de la mer.

Mais les coquillages ne mémorisent pas le son des vagues. Ce que vous entendez est en réalité un phénomÚne acoustique. La coquille agit comme une caisse de résonance, amplifiant les sons ambiants autour de vous.

As part of Earth Day and Global Action Days, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from RCA St Jacques of Chamarel and RCA Case Noyale for an educational visit to our seashell museum. 🌊

Throughout the visit, they explored the richness of our collection and discovered how seashells play an essential role in marine ecosystems. This experience also helped deepen their understanding of biodiversity, ocean preservation, and the importance of protecting the planet.
