Re-introducing , your lead artist for our first edition of Retreat to Art.

Pete was an Artist in Residence at the Bored Peach Club in Gozo, where he developed work in close response to the island’s architecture, ornament and ritual atmosphere. That residency forms the foundation of his involvement in Retreat to Art.

For the 2026 edition, Pete leads the studio programme while working alongside participants throughout the week. He introduces prompts, shares his working process and remains actively engaged in the studio as ideas develop.

Join us in a workshop on exploring abandoned spaces and collective memory with Bored Peach Club artist-in-residence Xinyu Li.

Participants are invited to share personal encounters with demolition, former homes, diaspora, and urban exploration, then translate these experiences into paper-based outputs, such as writing, drawing, and collage. Working with foil papers as a primary material, participants will engage in a tactile process of pressing, marking, and inscribing surfaces. The foil, easily creased and responsive to touch, functions as a fragile recording surface, capturing traces, pressure, and interruption.

Meet ’s latest artist in residence, Xinyu Li.

Xinyu’s recent practice and research examine the psychological displacements triggered by decay, using time-based media and miniature environments as key containers for understanding geo-spatial relations. By exploring ruins across different regions as a central case study, she draws on firsthand encounters to observe turbulent vernacular histories, patterns of migration, and collective nostalgia, as a way of safeguarding fading cultural memories.

➔ Follow Xinyu's residency updates.
