Naupaca Dance Factory (c2004) is a contemporary dance organisation made up of a group of individuals, coming from different artistic backgrounds, who strive to create and share ideas about bodily movement and artistic expression. Naupaca Dance Factory constantly seeks to explore dance as an interdisciplinary medium, and to present to audiences a sense of performance that is both limitless and visi

onary. Seven productions were born out of this urge to question and reconsider local pre-established notions of artistic techniques and meanings. Trough their work, Naupaca Dance Factory hopes to share with audiences its methods of fusing together and bringing to life, in a powerfully visual manner, its different concepts and ideas about the language of dance and performance art.

Naupaca Dance Factory’s ‘The Death of Snow White’ presents the darker vision of the human condition found in the source fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. In this performance, bodies in motion channel the underlying tensions of the sacred and the profane, the sublime and the ordinary, as well as questions of time, entropy and liminality in the mythological patterns of initiation, death and resurrection.

‘The Death of Snow White’ is a fairy tale, and as with all fairy tales, it can only happen if rules are followed. Three conditions must be respected for this performance to take place: every scene is an exploration of death; every moving body is dying; time is malleable.
