ŻfinMalta ŻfinMalta is a repertory company and the National Dance Company of Malta.

The Company

ŻfinMalta National Dance Company is a talented and adaptable dance ensemble, with a diversity of creative voices reflecting the many influences that are part of today’s Malta. Established in 2014, the company has quickly become one of the country’s major arts organisations, at the forefront of a burgeoning contemporary art scene in Malta. For five years, the company has pioneered fres

h thinking about contemporary dance in Malta and raised the profile of dance exponentially. We work with the best dancers and choreographers from Malta and around the globe to create productions that are bold and current and of a world-class standard.

ŻfinMalta offers a space where artists can take risks, contributing to an open and expansive dance ecology locally and internationally, and providing opportunities for both emerging and established dance professionals to realise their potential. Our work invites audiences to contemplate and question our contemporary world, with the ambition to enrich the lives of all who interact with the company, as both audience and participant. Artistic Director Paolo Mangiola joined the company in its third season, and has been instrumental in establishing its place in the region and further afield in the international dance community. Mangiola’s vision for the company is supported by his own credentials and profile as a choreographer, dance educator and performer.

SPECTRUM // Following an open call for proposals, we are excited to announce the seven artists selected for Phase One of Spectrum, a new two-year programme supporting Malta-based choreographic artists.

In 2026, each artist will spend one week in residence with the company researching their ideas. As the programme progresses into its second phase in 2027, three of the selected artists will create new works for ŻfinMalta National Dance Company.

We look forward to the new perspectives and works that will emerge through Spectrum, and are proud to be supporting each artists creative development.

OPEN LEVEL ADULT CLASSES // NEW TERM // This September, Iżfen is back as we welcome you to a brand new season of open level adult classes with ŻfinMalta National Dance Company.

Join us for contemporary with Nicole Chetcuti, alongside ballet with Ilona Baldacchino, Althea Palombi Corlett, and Antea Buro, while Ylenia the Yogi continues to bring our monthly outdoor yoga sessions to the terrace at ŻfinMalta Studios overlooking Valletta Harbour. ☀️

LIDIA CARICASOLE // This season we say farewell to company dancer Lidia Caricasole, a remarkable artist whose warmth, generosity, and unmistakable presence have left a lasting mark on ŻfinMalta.

Since joining the company in Season 2022/23, Lidia has brought her artistry, sensitivity, and commitment to countless creations, premieres, and international tours, enriching every stage she has stepped onto.

Alongside her work as a performer, Lidia has made an invaluable contribution to our participation programme through her collaboration with DanceHive - Homesharing for Dancers helping strengthen our connection with communities locally and internationally. We are proud that this collaboration continues through DanceHive, of which ŻfinMalta is a proud ambassador.

We are deeply grateful for everything Lidia has given to the company over the years. Her kindness, creativity, and presence on stage will be greatly missed, by both the team at ŻfinMalta, and audiences alike. We wish her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter. ❤️

SIMON RICCARDI-ZANI // This season we say farewell to company dancer Simon Riccardi-Zani , an exceptional performer whose creativity, curiosity, and distinctive artistic voice have become an integral part of ŻfinMalta.

Since joining the company in 2019, Simon has captivated audiences through numerous premieres and international tours, bringing intelligence, versatility, and commitment to every work he has performed.

Throughout his time with the company, Simon has also nurtured his choreographic practice, creating works for ŻfinMade and ŻfinDays with the support of ŻfinMalta. It has been a privilege to witness his artistic growth as both a dancer and a maker, and we are excited to see where his creative journey leads next. 💐
