We apologise to anyone who did not manage to get in - but there's still tomorrow! On this last day of Tactile, we encourage you to head down to Valletta Campus - University of Malta
in the morning from 9am, to make sure you don't miss out.

Last week Prohealth successfully launched Retaron, a multivitamin supplement specifically formulated for eyes that helps maintain normal vision. The event took place at the Tactile: 12 Concealed Sculptures Exhibition, which is a great initiative to raise awareness how visually impaired people perceive art.

Prohealth would like to thank Mr Mario Vella, clinical chairman of the ophthalmic department at Mater Dei, and Mr Jesmond Vassallo, a leading artist and curator of the exhibition, for their support and guidance.

Q&A: Carrara-trained Tactile: 12 concealed sculptures exhibition participant Kunie Fujiyoshi exercises a sharp, observant eye when creating sculptures. Her subjects always seem to revolve around aspects of human behaviour and the human condition.

What do you aim to achieve through your work?
I like observing people. With my work, I invite people to look at their real self. So I choose symbolic representations to evoke reflections on the human condition.

What is it about Carrara marble that makes it your main sculpting medium?
Unlike concrete and plaster, marble is naturally formed. It is made up of fossil fragments, holding within it remains, impressions or traces of living forms. This knowledge has rendered marble a special material for me. My work has a human quality to it, and marble as a material reflects the conceptual background of my sculptures. It is in harmony with my human observations.

Introducing the artists: Paul Scerri (Malta), whose career spans more than thirty years, set off on his artistic journey back in the 1970s. He observes how during this time “the character of my work has effectively made a full circle. Starting off from the figurative, I moved towards abstract ceramic creation, and have now turned back to figurative work.” Read more about Paul below:

Paul Scerri # Paul Scerri (b. 1959, Malta) is an artist of few words. He excels at creating intrigue and depicting stereotypical characters while delicately adding notions of injustice and narcissism to his works. His sculptures are open to individual interpretations. Paul, whose career spans more t...
