Send A Song:
Our work with the elderly is an important strand of the education programme's remit to engage with our older community, many of whom are unable to visit the theatre. Instead, we take music to them in this innovative and emotionally stimulating project. Julie James, is sent specific song requests which are then sung live to the recipient either in their ward or room. This project benefits the wellbeing of the recipient but also actively encourages participation and singing along, which is also a well established method of memory recollection. At present, this project runs in St Vincent de Paul Residence, Hilltop Gardens, Simblija Care Home and Golden Care. Silver Hub Sessions:
Led by award-winning Active Aging expert Charlotte Stafrace, the Silver Hub sessions take place at St Vincent de Paul Residence. The project involves elderly people, some of whom have Dementia or are limited in their mobility. By using gentle exercises like childhood games, songs and stories the participants spark memories and encourage brain and muscle stimulation. The overall outcome of these sessions is therapy through play, encouraging movement and singing with music. TOI TOI: Teatru Manoel Learning & Participation Programme is supported by the Bank of Valletta.
