The Valletta Cultural Agency’s programme for Strada Stretta takes inspiration from this iconic location and its notorious history, as well as from the many families and creatives born and raised here, to provide a stage and an audience for our artists - both established and up-and-coming - against the backdrop of this narrow street brimming with history. The plan to revive Strada Stretta to its fo

rmer glory began in the run up to 2018, when Malta's Capital City, Valletta, was crowned European Capital of Culture. Ever since, the Valletta 2018 Foundation, and subsequently the Valletta Cultural Agency, have been tasked with the creation of an annual programme of events to increasingly valorize and bring life to Strada Stretta, Valletta's foremost entertainment hub.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us at The Mae West in Valletta for a night of unforgettable Brazilian rhythms and vibrant street vibes! 🌟

BANDA BALADA lit up Strait Street with their soulful grooves and sizzling energy, paying tribute to the greats of Bossa Nova and beyond — from Tom Jobim to Stan Getz — and taking us on a journey through Brazil’s rich musical heritage. 🇧🇷🎷

The atmosphere was electric, the dancing non-stop, and the crowd absolutely brought the energy! 💃🕺 From samba sways to smooth jazz moments, Strettação delivered on every beat.

Big thanks to Adrian Galea Lucas and the full HOSKUBAN creative team for curating such a joyful celebration of music, culture, and community. And of course, massive applause to the eight-piece powerhouse that is Banda Balada — Malta’s finest, coming together for one magical night!

Experience an unforgettable evening of jazz as SFERA and special guests take the stage for SFERATIKA, a celebration of original compositions, classic jazz standards, and a heartfelt tribute to the late jazz icon Charles ‘City’ Gatt.

Led by Paul Giordimaina (piano), Oliver Degabriele (double bass), and Guze’ Camilleri (drums & percussion), the trio will perform selections from their acclaimed album GATT GROOVES, alongside fresh new material from their upcoming 2025 release.

Joining them for this special performance are Miles Busuttil (guitar), Angie Vella Zarb (vocals), and Walter Vella (saxophone), bringing an extra layer of magic to the night.

What an incredible evening celebrating the rich musical legacy of Strait Street – "The Gut"! ✨ From the soulful sounds of jazz to the lively rhythms that once filled Malta’s most iconic street, it was truly a night of magic.

A special thank you to the phenomenal George Curmi "il-Pusè", who amazed us all with his incredible talent as a multi-instrumentalist, effortlessly switching between instruments and bringing each piece to life in a unique way. 🎹🎻🎸

The stage was alive with passion, nostalgia, and the timeless music of Malta’s jazz legends. Thank you to all the musicians, our wonderful audience, and everyone who made this event an unforgettable experience!
