Grêmio Recreativo Escola de Samba Roma-Rio is a Brazilian Cultural Association that was founded in Rome, Italy in 1993, by Dimas Camargo – percussionist, musician and composer from São Paulo, Brazil. The Malta branch of the school was set up in 2017 by his son Michael Camargo – also a professional musician and percussionist
. The group in Malta consists of band members who come from Brazil, Malta, and other countries, and play Brazilian percussion instruments in the same style as those of the Río de Janeiro Carnival. The association promotes samba and percussion lessons for adults and children. The aim of the association is to divulge Brazilian culture by its participation in festivals, concerts and exhibitions.
