🎶✨ A Beautiful Musical Conclusion to the Feast of St Julian ✨🎶
🖤💛❤️

As the Feast of our beloved St Julian, Patron Saint soon draws to a close, Amadeus Chamber Choir looks back with gratitude on the many beautiful liturgical celebrations in which we were privileged to take part.

Through these days of devotion and celebration, our voices became a small offering of prayer and praise to God, honouring a saint who dedicated his life to Christ and to the care of others.

And what beautiful images with which to close these celebrations ❤️ this awesome journey that brought us closer together, supported each other and most important... appreciated each other 🥰❤️

Our repertoire brought together music from different generations.
The choir gathered behind the altar, surrounded by flowers, with the majestic organ pipes rising behind us, while the Crucified Christ stands at the very centre. In front of Him, the Blessed Sacrament reminds us of the true heart of every liturgical celebration, Jesus Christ, our Saviour.

The photographs seem to say everything, voices, music, faith, tradition and devotion, very special moments were when gathered beneath the Cross and before the Blessed Sacrament. 🙏

Great appreciation goes to our Mro. Brian Cefai for his musical direction and for continuing to give life to this beautiful feast so close to his heart with this special liturgical music. A heartfelt thank you to assistant director Jurgen Debono for his prompt willingness to step in and conduct.

A special thank you to our Parish Priest, Fr. Paul Mizzi, for his spiritual leadership and for all that he does for our parish, together with the clergy and members working for the best of St. Julian’s Parish.

Your commitment and love for music brought such richness and beauty to our liturgical celebrations. We are truly grateful for the time, talent and enthusiasm you shared with us all.

And last, but certainly not least, thank you goes to the congregation and to all those who attended the parish celebrations. Your presence, participation and devotion are what gives life and meaning to our feast. It is a joy to see people coming together in faith to honour our Patron Saint.

May the music we have offered be not merely heard, but received as prayer 🙏

Today at 11:00pm, Amadeus Chamber Choir awaits the entry of the statue of St. Julian in church to close all feast celebrations singing the beloved Antifona for St. Julian followed by the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and Innu Popolari.

Maestro Brian Cefai.....A Life Dedicated to Music, St. Julian and the Four-Voice Choir 🎶🎶🎶 🎶✨🇧🇪

For Mro. Brian Cefai, the beauty and power of choral music have never depended on numbers. His deep belief in the four-voice choir: soprano, alto, tenor and bass, comes from the conviction that when voices are well trained, disciplined and united, four sections can create one magnificent musical instrument.

This philosophy has been at the heart of his musical journey with the Amadeus Chamber Choir, where he has inspired and nurtured generations of choristers, always demanding commitment, musicality and, above all, a genuine love for the music they perform.

Brian’s musical formation has been rich and diverse. He studied harmony and music composition with the distinguished Maltese composers Carmelo Pace and Twanny Chircop, gaining a strong foundation in musical structure, harmony, counterpoint and composition. During his studies, he also had the privilege of being taught pedagogy by Dr. Pawlu Nani and studied tenor voice with Antoinette Migianni, professoressa Blaglovesta Dobreva and Derek Hammond-Stroud. An experience that contributed greatly to his development not only as a tenor and musician, but also as an educator and mentor.

His musical education also extended to conducting. Brian studied orchestral conducting with Professor Colin Tuchin in Warwick, England, further developing his understanding of orchestral interpretation, conducting technique and the delicate art of bringing voices and instruments together as one musical expression.

His formation through these distinguished teachers has helped shape the musician and conductor he is today, combining technical knowledge with an understanding of how to communicate music, teach singers and bring a musical score to life.

Brian’s connection with the Nani musical tradition has also remained an important part of his musical identity. His respect for Malta’s great musical heritage, and particularly for the works and traditions associated with the Nani family, has encouraged him to preserve, perform and pass on this repertoire to new generations of singers.

His connection with St Julian’s Parish is equally profound. For the past 36 years, Brian has served as Maestro di Ca****la of the Parish, dedicating an enormous part of his life to the musical and spiritual traditions of the parish.
Under his direction, his choir forms a major part of the liturgical celebrations throughout the year, contributing its voices to the solemn feast celebrations that form such an important part of parish life.

Being born in Carmel street, St. Julian’s, and raised adjacent to Lapsi Church, helping out his grandfather Salvu as Sacristan at this same Church, his love for his patron Saint Julian is deeply rooted in him, also evident in the care and devotion with which he approaches every feast, every Mass and every musical celebration.
For Brian, being Maestro di Ca****la is not merely a position. It is a vocation, a responsibility and an act of love.

Over these 36 years, he has helped preserve the musical traditions of St Julian’s while also bringing his own vision as composer and musicianship to them. He understands that sacred music is more than notes on a page: it is an offering of faith, a link with generations past and a way of bringing people closer to God.

His lifelong devotion to St Julian and his unwavering belief in a four-voice mixed choir and orchestra director has shaped Brian into the musician, educator and Maestro he is today.

His story is one of tradition and vision....respecting the music inherited from the past while giving it new life through the voices of today’s choristers.
And perhaps this is what defines Brian Cefai most: his belief that great music is created not simply by having many voices, but by having voices that listen, breathe, feel and sing together.

🎶 A Special Evening of Sacred Music on Saturday 29th August 6:45pm at St.Julian's Parish Church 🎶 Translation and Mass.

On the eve of the Feast of St. Julian, Amadeus Chamber Choir, soloists and orchestra under the direction of our Mro. Brian Cefai, will have the honour of providing the music for the feast celebration of the Translation and Mass, preserving a beautiful musical tradition that forms an important part of the cultural and spiritual identity of St. Julian’s community.

During the Translation, we will sing the cherished Iste Confessor and Beate Juliane (1893), by Dr.Paolo Nani, two works deeply connected with the musical heritage of St Julian's Parish.

The Mass will also feature Petite Messe Solennelle by Luigi Bordese, arranged for orchestra and SATB by Maestro Brian Cefai.

At the end of Mass, we will continue this musical journey with the Antifona Per San Giuliano by Dr. Paolo Nani (1847) followed by his much-loved Tantum Ergo for tenor and baritone during Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.
🎵 We will then conclude with the beloved Inno Popolare a San Giuliano by Mro. Angelo Pullicino, arranged for voices by Mro. Brian Cefai.

It is a privilege for Amadeus Chamber Choir to keep these treasured works alive and to pass them on to future generations. These melodies are far more than music, they are part of the history, devotion and identity of our community.

✨ DAY 7 – THE FINAL PERFORMANCE OF AIDA ✨🏛️ Castello di Mola di Bari 🇮🇹

And just like that… our incredible Aida journey has come to an end. ❤️🎶

After days filled with rehearsals, travelling, costumes, stage movements, long hours and countless moments of excitement, exhaustion and anticipation, we stood on stage one final time, this time in the magnificent setting of Castello di Mola di Bari.

And what a way to finish!

✨ Amadeus Chamber Choir gave an impeccable performance. ✨

From the very first note to the final chorus, our choristers sang with strength, precision, expression and confidence. Every entrance was carefully executed, every movement had purpose, and every musical phrase reflected the enormous amount of preparation that had gone into this production.

But beyond the music, what made this final performance truly special was the commitment of every single chorister.

They gave so much of themselves throughout this journey. They learned, rehearsed, repeated, listened, adapted and pushed themselves beyond their comfort zones. They performed after long days and demanding rehearsals, always remaining focused and determined to give their very best.

And on this final night, all that hard work paid off. ❤️

Standing together on that stage, surrounded by the magnificent setting of the castle, we could feel just how far we had come. What began with only two months of rehearsals and anticipation in Malta had transformed into a breathtaking international opera experience in Italy.

A heartfelt BRAVISSIMO to every member of Amadeus Chamber Choir! 👏👏👏

You should be immensely proud of yourselves. You represented Malta with dignity, professionalism, discipline and artistic excellence, and you showed what can be achieved when a group of people works together with dedication and love for music.

Our deepest gratitude goes to Maestro Brian Cefai , whose tireless preparation, guidance and belief in the choir, and in Maestro Francesco Zingariello for bringing this performance to life, helped bring out the very best in us.

We are also immensely grateful to Katia Ricciarelli and Anna Aiello for their artistic direction and precious guidance, to Maria Grazia Zingariello for her invaluable backstage guidance throughout this extraordinary production, and to Sara Vignola for her constant support, as well as to the orchestra, soloists, dancers and all the wonderful international choirs who shared this unforgettable journey with us.

And most of all, heartfelt thanks to Prof. Giacomo Fornari for recommending our choir, your trust and support made this incredible opportunity possible. ❤️
