The carving felt right, the first firing went well... And then, during glazing, one leg snapped. So, I decided to break the rest off. Right down to the flat bottom. It sits perfectly now.

Sometimes a piece just shows you what it wants to be. It was meant to rest flat, without the legs. 😆

In ceramics, not every piece ends the way you planned. Should I stick small pads underneath? Any thoughts?

In this video, I’m exploring a design inspired by the movement of water. Using a freehand carving technique, I’ve layered flowing waves and rhythmic lines to create a sense of steady motion across the piece.

There’s something incredibly meditative about the slow carving process to get these patterns just right. For this piece, I used a beautiful Botz Steinzeug Engobe slip in blue.
