The Shrinking Violets Launched in 2017, The Shrinking Violets is a Malta-based theatre collective creating collaborative productions.

Launched in 2017, The Shrinking Violets is a Malta-based theatre collective led by Maria Buckle, Jo Caruana, Chiara Hyzler, Cathy Lawlor and Denise Mulholland. The collective is primarily focused on creating dynamic, collaborative work in cooperation with other artists from Malta and beyond. The Shrinking Violets have produced three shows so far, namely Ernest & The Pale Moon by Oliver Lansley, US/Them by Carly Wijz, and Jamboy - the company's first original piece.

We can't believe it's two years since our production of In Other Words took to the stage, starring Denise Mulholland and Jes Camilleri, and directed by Chiara Hyzler!

For a play all about memory, it gave us some wonderful memories 💜 Happy stage-aversary to a gorgeous piece!

Like the rest of the Maltese theatre scene, we're mourning the sad news of the inimitable Polly March - actress, director, mentor and great friend.

Polly, from the day we set up the Shrinking Violets (and long before!), you were one of our greatest champions and supporters - always there to offer advice or sitting in the front row cheering us on. Thank you for always being there. We are going to miss you so much.

Rounding up our trio of actors is Michela Farrugia! Her ghost puppets are some of the most mischievous & wisest of the bunch.

🔴 Ħamranijja: an elderly woman who takes care of all the ghosts at the station. Though she is hard of hearing she is there for everyone
🟠 Oranġjo: a spirited young girl with a playful nature
🟡 Safrani: the youngest of the ghosts, curious and always with some prank up his sleeve
