Funderija Artistika Chetcuti

Funderija Artistika Chetcuti An art / design studio producing artworks in-house & on commission, in various materials. Contact us for more info.

Funderija Artistika Chetcuti was founded in 1990, by Joseph Chetcuti. The foundry started its life in a small garage, where Joseph designed and created most of the tools he needed, himself. The principles he used back then, created the foundation for this foundry; that is, to create bronzes of the highest possible quality. With these principles in mind, Joseph moved on to create a myriad of artwor

ks, found in public spaces or in private collections, some of which are his own original artworks. Some 15 years ago, Christopher joined him at the foundry. Following his father’s untimely passing in 2019, Christopher has taken over every aspect concerning the bronze casting process; whilst simultaneously introducing new materials and techniques. He also introduced an original in-house alloy and a variety of new patinas.

The Dancing Goddess // bronze, 2026

This is one of the latest works, conceived by .chetcuti for . Chris had been contemplating the allure of - the icon of prehistoric Malta’s past, for a considerable time. He wanted to create a counterpart for the figure captured in slumber, so he conceived her full of life, in movement, dancing into the new season. She is the spring / summer to the autumn / winter - she has awaken and with her she ushers the season of sun.

What better way to commence a new year than by reflecting on the past one? It was a busy and momentous year at the Foundry, yet we earnestly look ahead to the projects and collaborations that are set to unravel in the coming months.

The Sleeping Lady, an iconic image extant from Malta’s prehistoric past, was one such project embarked on in 2025. This is a limited edition of 5 (each one being unique). 4 pieces are still available.

The lure of the Sleeping Lady.

At the foundry, we recently undertook an exercise to physically enlarge a small copy of the statuette of the Sleeping Lady. Whilst each piece has a slightly different patina, each one was created to ‘mimic’ the original material.

Limited edition of 5. Only available at

All good things come to an end. has just finalised the patinas on the last two pairs of . We have fully exhausted the edition of this design. As we have often explained, our designs are veritable functional sculptures. Each one slightly different; each one customised for our clients. Fear not however, our collaboration with will persist, and we will create another Monstera or Leaf knocker in the very near future.

Thank you for your continued interest in our work, as well as your support 🧡

We had a little fun photographing these works and looking for patterns through the repetition of form. Which one’s your favourite?

We’ve been silent for a while, but it’s not without reason. We have so many projects underway, it’s been hard to document our work. However, we managed to capture these intricate decorative elements on the ’s podium - this was one of the Foundry’s projects dating back to when was still with us. They look as fabulous as they did when they were freshly cast years ago, which shows off ’s bravura where patination is concerned. We have worked with and still work so many band clubs in Malta, on decorative pieces such as these, but also on portrait busts of founders or important members 🧡

These are a couple of examples of the brass castings for the Lourdes Band Club, that the foundry had cast in the past. Today we have stripped the brass from it’s older patina and re-applied a fresh one and a wax finish over that.
