This August, Ivy Gallery is deeply privileged to open its doors to the works of Dr. U Lun Gywe, presented from the private family collection, titled Chasing Light.
It is the first time in our gallery’s history to host his works, and we share this moment with gratitude and respect. This exhibition is especially meaningful, as it is organised in collaboration with the artist’s family and Home Art Gallery, with selected works from the family collection. We invite you to witness this heartfelt presentation.

As we look back at these moments from Phi Phi’s first solo show, we feel deeply grateful. Every visit, conversation, and shared emotion gave this exhibition life and meaning. Thank you for being part of MORPH—for seeing, feeling, and connecting.

And because so many of you have reached out, we’re happy to share that the exhibition will be open for one more day — tomorrow, July 29. If you haven’t had the chance to visit, or wish to return for a final look, this is it.

Solo Exhibition by Phi Phi
Ivy Gallery, 2025

We are proud to present MORPH, a debut solo show by contemporary female artist Phi Phi.

Phi Phi, a Yangon-based contemporary artist born in 2000, who brings a visceral, emotional honesty to her work. Her practice began through installation and conceptual exploration, often using steel to express structural and emotional tension. In 2022, her participation in a contemporary art workshop led by artist Aye Ko opened a new path of introspection and experimentation. While guided by artists Phyo Nyi and Kaung Su, she has forged her own unique, raw, restless, and deeply human. She is also active as an art educator, teaching children weekly at AK Art Village, passing forward her love of artistic exploration with radical honesty.

All works in Morph were created in 2025, representing not only the evolution of her painterly language but also her position as one of Myanmar’s most versatile contemporary voices. Beyond painting, Phi Phi’s practice spans installation, design, teaching, and curatorial work—each discipline feeding into her restless, ever-shifting creative energy.

We believe this exhibition marks a significant moment in Myanmar’s contemporary art scene and in Phi Phi’s evolving artistic journey. We would be honoured by your presence at the opening reception to celebrate this occasion. Be there. Bring your friends, family and witness the shift.

Profiles.

Rush One (b. 1994, Burma) embarked on his exploration of graffiti lettering during seventh grade when he encountered the pioneers of Myanmar's graffiti collective YSA in 2007. Over a decade of pushing artistic boundaries, his unwavering dedication to his craft persists.

Having left his indelible marks throughout the country, his exhibited pieces have faced removal over the years. Undeterred, he actively sows the seeds of creativity, aiding newcomers in the scene. Since 2019, he has been at the helm of Burma Sketch Jam, a platform where he imparts knowledge and techniques to youth on a daily basis. Through numerous specialized graffiti and letter-writing workshops, he contributes to the growth of aspiring artists. Engaging in both non-profit and commercial/promotional campaigns, he has become a prominent figure in the artistic community.

In 2022, he committed himself to studio practice at Very Serious Studio, honing his image-making techniques across various mediums and surfaces. His journey culminates in the celebration of his first solo show this Saturday at Ivy Gallery.

Last but not least, we would like to introduce you all to the artist "Phyo Thamein", one of the three artists featured in the exhibition, "We Live in a Society Where...".

Phyo Thamein often creates new ideas, as he amuses, that seamlessly transcend specific artistic mediums. He knows how to make the social environment, which he encounters, interesting with various creative methods that he is skilled at.

In the "We live in a society where..." exhibition, Phyo Thamein recycled various materials and upcycled them as works of art, highlighting the issues faced by society and the social environment of today, which is sometimes neglected.

"We live in a society where..." Exhibition မှာ ပါဝင်ပြသထားတဲ့ အနုပညာရှင်သုံးဦးထဲက နောက်ဆုံးဖြစ်တဲ့ အနုပညာရှင် ဖြိုးသမိန်နဲ့ မိတ်ဆက်ပေးပါရစေ။

ဖြိုးသမိန်သည် Medium တစ်ခုထဲကို သတ်သတ်မှတ်မှတ် ရေးဆွဲခြင်းမရှိပဲ စိတ်ကူးရလျှင်ရသလို အသစ်အသစ်များကို ဖန်တီးပြုလုပ်နေလေ့ရှိသည်။ သူကိုယ်တိုင်နေ့စဥ်ကြုံတွေ့နေရသော လူမှုပတ်ဝန်းကျင်မှ အကြောင်းအရာများကို သူကျွမ်းကျင်သော ဖန်တီးမှုနည်းလမ်းအမျိုးမျိုးဖြင့် စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာကောင်းအောင် ပုံဖော်တတ်သူလဲ ဖြစ်သည်။

"We live in a society where..." ပြပွဲတွင် ဖြိုးသမိန်သည် စွန့်ပစ်ပစ္စည်းများကို ရှာဖွေစုဆောင်းပြီး အနုပညာလက်ရာများအဖြစ် ပြန်လည်ဖန်တီးကာ ရံဖန်ရံခါလျစ်လျူရှုခံရတတ်သော လူ့အဖွဲ့အစည်းနှင့် ယနေ့ခေတ်လူမှုဘဝပတ်ဝန်းကျင်မှာ ကြုံတွေ့နေရသော အကြောင်းအရာများကို မီးမောင်းထိုးဖော်ပြထားသည်။
