Part of opening a printmaking studio in Yangon means trying to find a way to get the equipment you need to be able to make prints. So far, this has meant making lots of the equipment myself or getting some specific things made. The thing in the photo is a baren that has been 3d printed. A baren is an object you can use to press on the back of a print to transfer the ink to the paper. The small holes have a ball bearing inside them, the two halves are screwed together and you have a really useful baren that is otherwise impossible to buy in Yangon.

I'm currently running a small painting class on Wednesday evenings. We're working on a range of topics, some about painting techniques and theory and others more creative. This one is somewhere between, we were working on master studies where you copy a painting to learn how it was made. Each painting presents its own challenges and difficulties but you always end up getting something good from it. Great work from everyone in the class on this one.

More lithography tests this week. It's getting closer and almost possible but still doesn't want to cooperate with some of the ink I can get in Yangon. Lithography is a unique printing method which involves drawing or painting on a stone with greasy material and taking a print directly off the stone. Hoping to make a series of prints with this technique soon. Until then, it's more testing.

Here's something fun I've been working on for much longer than it should've taken. It's a new bronze sculpture made of small tabs brazed together to form an abstract lattice that has been made into the shape of a head. Not the finished product of course, still needs a clean, patina and base.

I've been working on a commission of some of my own prints made larger. These are more than double the original sizes and they'll soon be printed on some large format old newspaper I found from 1964. Looking forward to seeing the finished product but they're already looking great.

If you want something custom for your home or office, send me a DM and we can work something out.

Made a quick collage for someone who wanted to see some of my prints. Easier to make one image of all of them instead of sending 20 individual photos. Nice to see them all as a set and see the story they tell together. I have my own favourites and which ones I like most, definitely think they look better on the old Myanmar paper than on plain paper though.

A set of my recent prints made its way to the Netherlands. The screen prints sit on a main wall of a new restaurant in Hengelo called Lili's Eetcafe. They serve food from around the world, have an ever changing menu and guest chefs coming on a regular basis. What better to go with food from all over the world is art from all over the world.

If you happen to be in the Netherlands and happen to be in Hengelo, they're definitely worth a visit. https://www.instagram.com/liliseetcafe

Another photo I've just received of some pieces I made a few years ago. They have unfortunately left Yangon but found a nice home abroad. the sculpture and large painting are mine and look great as a centre piece of the room. I'd remove the TV and just stare and my painting and sculpture all day but I guess I'm biased in that regard.

I'm still doing some illustration now and then and here is one that I was looking at recently. It comes from the 2026 Soil Health Calendar I made for Kokkoya Organics. Lots going on in the illustration, just the way I like it, plenty of bright colours and shapes to keep your eyes occupied when looking at this one. There are still some calendars left if you'd like one and they ship world wide.

Check them out at https://kokkoyaorganics.com/
