"Personal Heritage"

Clockwise from top left :
1. A couple from Bagan Era participating in Burmese Thingyan Water Festival to signify the starting of a new year and new beginnings. A Chinthé (Lion) for my roots as Burmese and a Mon Longyi pattern for the historical culture of Yangon.

2. Pathein Umbrellas that merged into the sun to represent the high temperature climate of Burma.

လမ်းဆုံမှ ဆေးရောင်စိုစိုအိပ်မက်များ ပြပွဲရဲ့ ပထမနေ့ ပြီးဆုံးခဲ့ပါပြီ။

ကြွရောက်လာခဲ့တဲ့ တစ်ယောက်စီတိုင်းကို ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ်ရှင့်။ 🫶🏽🫶🏽
ပြပွဲက မနက်ဖြန် (၁) ရက် ကျန်ရှိသေးတဲ့အတွက် အနီးကပ် လာရောက်ကြည့်ရှူချင်တယ်ဆို အချိန်မှီပါသေးတယ်နော်။

ပြသထားတဲ့ပန်းချီကားတွေကို စုဆောင်းချင်တယ်ဆိုလည်း ဆက်သွယ်လို့ရပါတယ်။

ပန်းမခူးရ
[Trans: Don’t Pick the Flowers]

“This was never meant to be an artwork let alone become a series.

I only painted the first one as a mockery of the “Do Not Spit Betal Nut” signs that are almost everywhere in the city and are almost always covered by Betal Nut Spits but it would have been straightforward and that is no fun. So I decided to give a nod to the many birds that I avidly do my best to avoid on my morning commute to work lest they defecate on me.

I love crows, they’re cute and smart creatures; and the hilarious idea of a crow picking off a flower that is specifically stated to not pick – Is the crow trying to woo another crow? Did it only pick it up simply because it liked the flower? Or Is the crow a rebellious avian that follows the Seven Commandments of Animalism? Who knows!”

ပန်းမခူးရဇာတ်လမ်းက စီးရီးတစ်ခုအနေနဲ့ ဖန်တီးဖို့နေနေသာသာ၊ အနုပညာလက်ရာတစ်ခု ဖြစ်လာဖို့ တောင် လုံးဝရည်ရွယ်ခဲ့တာ မဟုတ်ပါဘူး။

ပထမဆုံးပုံကို ဆွဲဖြစ်ခဲ့တာက မြို့အနှံ့မှာတွေ့ရတတ်ပြီး အမြဲလိုလို ကွမ်းတံတွေးတွေနဲ့ ပေပွနေတတ်တဲ့ "ကွမ်းတံတွေး မထွေးရ" ဆိုတဲ့ ဆိုင်းဘုတ်တွေကို လှောင်ပြောင်ချင်လို့ပါ။ ဒါပေမဲ့ တိုက်ရိုက်ကြီးဆိုရင်လည်း စိတ်လှုပ်ရှားဖို့ မကောင်းလှဘူးလို့ ထင်တယ်။ ဒါကြောင့်မို့ ကျွန်တော် မနက်အလုပ်သွားတိုင်း အပေါ်ကနေ အညစ်အကြေးဆွံ့တာမခံရအောင် အသည်းအသန် ရှောင်ရှားရတဲ့ ငှက်တွေကို ဂုဏ်ပြုတဲ့အနေနဲ့ ထည့်သွင်းဖို့ ဆုံးဖြတ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။

ကျွန်တော်ကတော့ ကျီးကန်းတွေကို ချစ်တယ်။ ချစ်ဖို့ကောင်းသလို ဉာဏ်လည်းကောင်းကြတဲ့ သတ္တဝါတွေလို့ထင်တယ်။ "ပန်းမခူးရ" လို့ အထူးတလည် တားမြစ်ထားတဲ့ ပန်းတစ်ပွင့်ကို ကျီးကန်းတစ်ကောင်က ခူးနေတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ ရယ်စရာကောင်းတဲ့ စိတ်ကူးက… အဲဒီကျီးကန်းက တခြားကျီးကန်းတစ်ကောင်ကို ပိုးပန်းဖို့ ကြိုးစားနေတာလား။ ဒါမှမဟုတ် ပန်းကို သဘောကျလို့ပဲ ခူးလိုက်တာလား? ဒါမှမဟုတ် တိရစ္ဆာန်ဝါဒ ပညတ်ချက်ခုနစ်ပါး (Seven Commandments of Animalism) ကို လိုက်နာတဲ့ တတ်ကြွတဲ့ ငှက်တစ်ကောင်လား။ ဘယ်သူသိမှာလဲ။

ကျွန်တော်တို့ A Cafe မှာ Art de Erik ရဲ့ ပါဝင်ကူညီမှုနဲ့ “တစ်ခုယူ တစ်ခုထားခဲ့” ဆိုတဲ့ Campaign တစ်ခုရှိနေပါတယ်။အခု ပြုလုပ်ထားတဲ့ Campaign မှာ မည်သူမဆို ပါဝင်နိုင်မှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ပါဝင်ချင်တဲ့ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေက ကျွန်တော်တို့ချိတ်ဆွဲထားတဲ့ Board ပေါ်မှာရှိတဲ့ Artwork တစ်ခုကိုယူသွားပြီး ကိုယ်တိုင်ဖန်တီးထားတဲ့ Artwork တစ်ခုကိုပြန်ထားခဲ့ပေးပါ။ဒါဆို ကျွန်တော်တို့ရဲ့ Campaign လေးမှာ ပါဝင်ပြီးဖြစ်လို့ သူငယ်ချင်းတွေအချင်းအချင်း အပြန်အလှန်မျှဝေကြဖို့ ၃၉လမ်း အောက်ဘလောက်ကို လာရောက်ဖို့ ဖိတ်ခေါ်လိုက်ပါတယ်။

In collaboration with A Cafe we made a sharing board for the Yangonite Art Community !

If you're a creative in Yangon and happened to walk into 39th Street for a cup of coffee, please feel free to take any piece of the artwork pinned to the board and leave a piece of your work. Right now, it's only just some of my scribbles but you can help expand the board!

This is something I wanted to do for quite some times and as an introvert myself, it is quite difficult to make an effort to start a conversation with new people.
I'm really happy to be able to make this : To share and collect art without much talks.

It's an easy move to just write in a prompt and make this but I'd rather unalive myself than to use any Artificial Intelligence to boost my creativity.

I've been on this journey for almost 5 years and it's a pleasure to be able discover all the good and bad things that came with it.
One thing I can share from my experience is that you don't need to learn the colour theory or to take courses to be able to draw.
Art doesn't need to be perfection or grandeur. Art just need authenticity, creativity and a wee bit of insanity.

It doesn't matter whether you make traditional or digital art. Please follow your heart and go wild on it.
Mistakes are what make us who we are and I'm still learning on mine.

Please just do yourself a favour and don't further insult artists with your ignorance.
