Our new 1500 Aquascape by is settling in well. We have adopted our usual approach of lower lighting to begin with, and big frequent water changes π¦ This gives time for the plants to settle in and avoid algae.
Hereβs a breakdown of the maintenance since start up:
π± 75% water change every day for the first week, every other day for the second week, every 3 days for the 3rd and 4th week. From now onwards we will do a water change once a week.
π± Substrate cleaning during water change. This includes wafting our physical waste with your hand or using a turkey baster for blasting the gravel (we sell them!), then siphon away with your hose.
π± Regular brushing of the wood.
π± Cutting out old/melting leaves (especially Cryptocoryne).
π± Glass cleaning (even if it doesnβt look dirty!
π± Lily pipe and filter pipe cleaning (again even if it doesnβt look dirty!). Soak lily pipes in bleach solution then rinse and run your brush through them.
π± Pre-filter sponge clean every week (it takes less than 5 minutes on an Oase Biomaster).
