Do you not see our pain • • •
Do you not hear the prayers filled with suffering that rise every day • • •
There are children whose lives have been broken • • •
There are people separated from their families • • •
There are people who no longer dare to think confidently about tomorrow • • •
Dear World • • •
We see the statements being issued • • •
We hear the expressions of concern • • •
But what we need is not words written on paper • • •
We need the freedom to live • • •
We need safety and security • • •
We need justice • • •
And yet • • •
The world remains silent • • •
Dear United Nations • • •
Are human lives not more important than issuing statements • • •
Are the tears of a grieving mother not more meaningful than words of concern • • •
Justice is not merely a word written in a report • • •
It is the hope of people who are still alive • • •
And • • •
Is turning a blind eye to injustice not
a crime in itself • • •
Is indifference not a silent form of support for those who commit injustice • • •
If someone sees a person being beaten and chooses to remain silent,
how is that any different from standing with the one who is doing the beating • • •
If the world sees an entire nation crying out in pain and remains silent,
how is that any different from allowing injustice to continue • • •
Dear World...
Justice is not something that can wait forever • • •
For every day that justice is delayed,
more innocent people's homes
may be destroyed • • •
more innocent lives may be shattered • • •
more innocent futures may be lost • • •
Therefore • • •
What we want to ask is this:
How much longer will the world continue to turn away from so many tears • • •
How much longer will the United Nations and the international community continue to pretend not to hear these countless cries for help • • •
When will justice finally come • • • ?
