CFK Summer Studio 2026 - Workshop 1 Completion
တီထွင်ဖန်တီးမှုနှင့် ထုတ်ဖော်ပြသခြင်း သင်တန်း ၁ - ပြီးမြောက်ခြင်း

Coming from Kalaw (CFK) မှ ဦးဆောင်ပြီး ဥရောပသမဂ္ဂ (EU) ၏ ကူညီပံ့ပိုးမှုဖြင့် ပြုလုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ ကျွန်မတို့ရဲ့ Summer Studio 2026 မှ သင်တန်းတို (၁) အောင်မြင်စွာ ပြီးမြောက်ခဲ့တဲ့ ပုံရိပ်တွေကို ဝေမျှပေးချင် ပါတယ်ရှင်။
စုစုပေါင်း သင်တန်းတို (၄) ခုမှ ပထမဆုံးခြေလှမ်းဖြစ်တဲ့ Workshop 1: Creativity and Expression ကို Artis-Hood အဖွဲ့မှ ဦးဆောင်ပြီး သင်ကြားပေးခဲ့တာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

ဒီသင်တန်းမှာ ဒေသခံ ကလေးလူငယ်တွေကို Hip Hop ကပြဟန် ၊ အခြေခံသီချင်းသီဆိုပုံ beatbox အစရှိတဲ့ ပုံစံမျိုးအပြင် ဂိမ်းတွေကစားကြပြီး သူတို့ရဲ့ စိတ်ကူးစိတ်သန်းတွေကို လွတ်လပ်စွာ ပုံဖော်ခွင့်ရခဲ့ကြသလို ၊ မိမိကိုယ်ကို ယုံကြည်မှုရှိရှိ ထုတ်ဖော်ပြသနိုင်ကြောင်း ဝေမျှပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ကလေးတွေရဲ့ တက်ကြွလှုပ်ရှားမှု ၊ အပြုံးတွေနဲ့ ဖန်တီးခဲ့တဲ့ အနုပညာလက်ရာလှလှလေးတွေကို ဒီဓာတ်ပုံတွေထဲမှာ အတူတူ ကြည့်ရှုခံစားနိုင်ပါတယ်ရှင်။

Reflecting on Workshop 1- A Journey of Creativity and Expression.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the successful completion of our very first workshop, organized by Coming from Kalaw (CFK) and proudly supported by the European Union (EU).
Designed as a core part of our 4 workshops, Workshop 1- Creativity and Expression was beautifully led by the Artis-Hood.

In this workshop, local children and youth explored Hip Hop dance styles, foundational singing techniques, and beatboxing. Through these expressive mediums and interactive games, they were given the freedom to unleash their imaginations and discover how to confidently express themselves. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the European Union (EU) for their essential support in empowering and uplifting the potential of the next generation of youth here in Kalaw.

The exhibition is titled 'Together' because it’s all about the beauty of bringing things together. It features creations by the workshop kids and youth, along with artist Kyu Kyu.

In this piece, the children collected stones from their surroundings and turned them into little faces. The artist shaped the canvas based on the natural forms of these stones, while the kids themselves painted them freely to create this together.

This creation shows the artist's work and the kid's imagination coming together as one.

In collaboration with , West Eden pleased to announce “အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya),” a solo exhibition by Htein Lin, one of Myanmar’s leading contemporary artists. The exhibition will be on view at West Eden Gallery from 20 August to 12 October 2025

"အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya)" explores the Myanmar script as both material and method—a visual system encoding memory, resistance, and identity. Each character becomes a political form, shaped by Htein Lin’s trajectory as a student activist, political prisoner, and witness to national transformation.

Rather than treating script as static or neutral, “အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya)” positions it as a living archive: fractured, improvised, and urgently present. It testifies not only to the trauma and resilience of Myanmar’s recent history, but also to the power of inscription in the face of erasure.

The exhibition title အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya) is derived from the Burmese word for ‘alphabet.’ It explores the Myanmar script as both material and method—a visual system encoding memory, resistance, and identity

Following his release from prison in 2004, where he covertly produced hundreds of works using improvised materials, Htein Lin began painting on discarded cardboard found on the streets of Yangon. His material improvisation became foundational to his practice, symbolizing endurance under constraint.

Rather than treating script as static or neutral, “အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya)” positions it as a living archive: fractured, improvised, and urgently present.

“အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya)” by Htein Lin is on view at West Eden Gallery from 20 August to 12 October 2025.

ชื่อนิทรรศการ အက္ခရာ (อัก กา ยะ) มาจากภาษาเมียนมา แปลว่า ‘ตัวอักษร’ เป็นนิทรรศการที่สำรวจตัวอักษรเมียนมา ทั้งในบริบทของวัสดุ และการสร้างผลงานศิลปะ เพื่อถ่ายทอดความทรงจำ การต่อต้าน และอัตลักษณ์ของศิลปิน

Get to know the artist behind the “အက္ခရာ (Ek kha ya)” exhibition – Htein Lin

Htein Lin is a painter, performance artist, writer, and former political prisoner. After joining the 1988 uprisings, he spent seven years in prison, secretly creating art with improvised materials.

Since his release in 2004, he has pioneered performance and conceptual art in Myanmar, with exhibitions across Asia, Europe, and the US. His works are in major collections including the Singapore Art Museum, M+ Contemporary (Hong Kong), International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (Switzerland), and Staatliche Museum Fünf Kontinente (Germany).

He is also the founder of Kaungkin.com, Myanmar’s first online art journal, and initiated the Burmese Arts Festival in London. Today, he runs Coming from Kalaw, an independent gallery and learning space in Shan State.

Htein Lin เป็นจิตรกร ศิลปินศิลปะแสดงสด นักเขียน และอดีตนักโทษการเมือง หลังเข้าร่วมการลุกฮือปี 1988 เขาถูกจำคุก 7 ปี และได้สร้างผลงานศิลปะในเรือนจำอย่างลับๆ

West Eden, in collaboration with , invites you to a Curator’s Tour with Kyel Sin Lin, held as part of the exhibition “အက္ခရာ (Ek Kha Ya)”. The event will take place on Sunday, August 24th at 3 PM at West Eden Gallery, Sukhumvit 31.

This special program offers an opportunity to hear directly from Kyel Sin Lin—curator of the exhibition and daughter of the artist Htein Lin. She will share insights into the conceptual framework, sources of inspiration, and artistic process behind အက္ခရာ (Ek Kha Ya).

The tour will be conducted in English.
Admission is free, and no prior registration is required.
