we shine a light on one of our artists:
Nybé Ponzio,

who shares his art throughout the city of Bamako.

Here is one of his works,
highlighting henna and bazin.

As you know,
henna symbolizes happiness.

Wherever henna is found,
joy is present.

Weddings, baptisms,
and other festive occasions…

Henna is always there,
adding beauty to these special moments.

We are in Mali
a land rich in culture,
a true land of art and tradition.

We have great artists,
like Toumani Diabaté and Babani Koné,
who have helped spread our culture across the world.

The representation of women in Dogon society through the Emna ceremony: Cowry shell hoods with bustier represent women, this is the representation of the alliance.

- Bambara Yana (The Bambara woman): the Bambara mask is a reminder of the Dogon descent, of their lineage, of their constant relationship with the Mandé.

- Poulloh Yana (The Fulani woman): the Fulani mask designates a strong symbol of the cohabitation between the Dogons and the Fulani (relationship between peasants and herders).
