Revolutionary British painter, printmarker, stage designer, draughtsman, and photographer, artists of the 20 snd 21 st centuries dies 11.06. 2026. He made his name as a pop artist during the swinging 60s and was perhaps best known for his paintings of swiming pools that helped define the Los Angels aesthetic. Works such as A Bigger Splash and Portrait of an artist (Pool with two figures) depicted hedonistic scenes of love, lust and loss taking place below the city’s sun-soaked skies. “Teaching people to draw is teaching people to look” he told the Yorkshire Post in 2018.
