Call for audience participants!
Choreographers and researchers Jorge Crecis and Lucía Piquero are starting a new long-term research project with an intensive week of research in Malta, based at the Valletta Campus Theatre and with the support of the University of Malta Research Grants and UM’s School of Performing Arts. The research aims to develop an interdisciplinary 360 view of the experiences of peak performance and emotion, and their relationship.
This is our research question:
How can the experience of theatre dance performances, with focus on emotion and peak performance, be understood through the internal points of view of the performer and choreographer, as well as the external views of scholars and the general public?
This part of the research will develop into an article for publication in peer-review journals, and we have already been invited to present at a conference on cognition and interdisciplinarity in October in Portugal.
We are looking for people interested in participating in the project as audience members. The sharings through the week or work will be open to everyone, but we need a group who can commit to coming to both sharings and to fill in a questionnaire and participate in the discussion after.
What we need from you:
- Commit to coming to both sharings:
Wednesday 21st August
Saturday 24th August
(Time can be decided with the group, but they will be in the afternoon)
- Commit to participate in an open discussion with all members of the research group and audience
- Commit to fill in an anonymous questionnaire about your experience of watching
We will offer refreshments and nibbles in exchange for your time, which shouldn’t be longer than 2 hours.
If you are interested in forms of research within the performing arts, come and join us!!
