A screening of the movie mogiLOVE and a discussion afterwards with Prismatica (LGBTQIA+ NGO from Belarus)
3 May, 10:00
With who: representative from Prismatica, moderation by Educat Collective
The session begins with a screening of the film (25 minutes, English subtitles). The discussion afterwards will focus on the situation of Belarusian LGBTQIA+ people both in Belarus and in exile, as well as on empowering practices, activities, and communities that support them. MOGILOVE is a project about Mogilev and its q***r community. LGBTQ+ people in Belarus face many challenges, especially outside major cities. Mogilev is often seen as conservative and rigid, but the film reveals a different reality. It highlights diverse identities and personal stories, making LGBTQ+ lives visible and sharing experiences from the regions.
About the project
This session is part of Decolonising Cultures of Remembrance. The project questions dominant historical narratives and their (mis)use in the context of the ongoing war in Ukraine, rising tensions, and far-right movements. Through travels, an online exhibition, workshops, and festivals in Moldova, Poland, and Germany, we bring together activists, foster dialogue, promote resilience strategies, and ask: “has remembrance failed?” with a focus on marginalized and decolonial perspectives.
