LOUIS VUITTON “DOUDOU” MONOGRAM TEDDY BEAR
Marc Jacobs Era, 2005

The Louis Vuitton “Doudou” Teddy Bear is one of the Maison’s most unexpected and charming collector’s pieces.

Created during the Marc Jacobs era Marc Jacobs in 2005, it reflects a defining moment when Louis Vuitton Louis Vuitton fully embraced fashion, pop culture and collectible objects beyond its traditional world of luggage.

Its soft Monogram velour body, leather collar, glass-like eyes and bear-shaped tag translate the House’s iconic visual codes into something affectionate and almost childlike.

In French, doudou refers to a beloved comfort object — often a child’s favourite soft toy — giving this rare piece a particularly emotional and nostalgic character.

Luxury made tender: playful, nostalgic and instantly recognisable.

LOUIS VUITTON DAMIER CANVAS COURIER TRUNK
Circa Late 1880s

A remarkable example from Louis Vuitton’s early Damier period, introduced in 1888. Predating the iconic Monogram canvas, the Damier pattern was created not only as a beautiful design but as one of the Maison’s first recognisable signatures—an elegant solution to the growing problem of imitation.

With its wooden slats, black lozine trim, brass studs, travel labels, and painted ownership marks, this trunk embodies the golden age of luxury travel. More than an antique, it marks the beginning of a design language that continues to define Louis Vuitton today: the enduring power of an instantly recognisable pattern.

LOUIS VUITTON MOTOR PICNIC TRUNK
Circa 1920s
90 × 50 × 40 cm

An exceptionally rare Louis Vuitton Motor Picnic Trunk from the golden age of motoring, when the automobile redefined travel, leisure and luxury. Created for grand touring rather than everyday luggage, this impressive fitted trunk weighs over 40 kilograms and was designed for elegant outdoor dining, country estates and sporting weekends.

Opening to reveal its original fitted interior with dining accessories, it reflects Louis Vuitton’s mastery of craftsmanship, where practicality becomes ceremony. Finished in black with brass hardware, leather trim and a beautifully appointed interior, it is both a remarkable collector’s piece and an icon of 1920s travel.

An exceptional example of Louis Vuitton’s celebrated travel heritage.

198 × 132 cm

There were so many characters I wanted to include, but I was also reluctant to lose the mood of the frozen saloon. The icicles on the frosty bison and the snow-laden television playing True Grit were key assets that needed to be seen to amplify the sense of cold.

Our key asset was, of course, Cindy Crawford Cindy Crawford and she had to have sovereignty of the joint. She can play a badass very well and that was her ascribed role.

It is not easy for everything to come together in such a tight setting, as one tension spot can ruin the whole pastiche. It’s akin to camels and the eye of the needle. The wolf’s paw on this occasion came very close to Cindy’s shot glass, but we got away with it.

The wolf is actually a domestic dog breed called tamaskan. He is not 100% wolf, but that mattered little, as he merely added to the sense of trespass. The only reason to linger in this bar would appear to be the landlady. Maybe she could be won over? Who knows, but she certainly owns the image.- David Yarrow Photography©

The famous monogram had a purpose (not just style)

The iconic LV monogram canvas by Louis Vuitton wasn’t originally created for fashion. Introduced in 1896, it was designed to prevent counterfeiting.

Ironically, it went on to become one of the most copied designs in the world—turning practicality into timeless luxury.
