I wanted to do one of those posts that says, “There are a lot of new followers here so I’ll introduce myself again”…but in reverse. I’ve never actually come on and introduced myself. I’m sort of the new one here!

I’ve been creating for as long as I can remember. Collecting papers, making collages, keeping scraps of beauty, pointing out little discoveries of magic to others. I make stitched notes…quotes on handmade paper to convey love, in its many forms. To encourage, to inspire, to connect. To remind us to notice what is already here.

I’ve lived most of my life in Colorado, but I started a new chapter this year. I packed two suitcases and my typewriter and headed to Morocco. I wandered the edge of the Sahara desert for a few months before settling in Marrakech. It’s been a journey getting here…or more accurately, a journey of returning to this place that feels like home. My desire here is to share more of myself…the beauty I find, the stories I stumble upon, the things I make…whether they are stitched notes for shops or little artworks…because I really believe we need to shine our lights so the people who are looking for us can find us. And because I’m tired of being shy.

My studio has looked a little different lately! Thank goodness it’s beautiful in Morocco, because sourcing my papers and getting a functional sewing machine has been a crazy adventure! Mostly up and running 5 months and lots of tears and rerouted plans later. So thankful for my wonderful stores who have been so patient while I make this transition 🙏🏼💕

Also, I started a blog about this whole journey to Morocco .homecoming …it’s a work in progress and mostly I haven’t told anyone about it, but maybe it’s time 🫣Hiraethhomecoming.com 🐪✨

My studio is looking different these days! Taking the meaning of remote work to the extreme. Not quite as easy as having an internet job. Typewriter and papers and sewing machines through customs has been an adventure and a steep learning curve. But finally I’m typing orders! ✨Learning to be nomadic and at home wherever I am, which currently means a dot on the map next to the sand dunes, on the banks of a river in the Sahara desert. Where the birds are singing and the breeze is blowing and I’m waiting for camels to walk past. 🐪💕✨

I was fortunate to be able to visit the paper mill in Amalfi that makes the papers for my stitched notes! They’ve been making paper the same way since the middle ages and it’s the last operational paper mill in Amalfi, a family business passed down through generations. What a fabulous day! Thank you for the warm welcome! And the gorgeous paper!
