✨fun fact: did you know there are over one hundred ways to say camel in arabic?

جَمَل (jamal)

Only used for the male camel

If you want to stress that the camel is, in fact, a dromedary (one hump), you can say جَمَل عَرَبيّ. Plural form: جِمال.

ناقة (naqa)

Only used for the female camel (الأُنثى مِن الإِبل)

الْجَلَبُ (al-jalab)

The camels, sheep and goods brought for trade (ما جُلِبَ من إِبلٍ وغنمٍ ومتاعٍ للتجارة)

جُوَار or جِوَار (juwaar/jiwaar)

The general term for baby camel

بَكْر (bakr) and feminine بَكْرة

They both describe a young but already fully grown camel, especially from the female (even without the feminine ending).

Fresh paint, big smiles, and teamwork that made a difference. 🎨✨

Our students had the opportunity to visit a local public school and work side by side to restore classrooms through painting and beautification efforts. Beyond the transformation of the spaces, what truly stood out was the energy, collaboration, and friendships built along the way.

Two things were present in every picture: teamwork and laughter. 🤝😊

Halfway Through! ✅📋

Time flies when you are having fun! Our high school students have officially completed half of their 4-week program, and we can’t believe how quickly this first half has gone by! 💃

Between Darija lessons, cultural excursions, real-world target language applications, and spending time with our Moroccan peers, our time here with this incredible group of students has truly flown by ! 🇲🇦

We are thrilled to see how much our students have engaged with the local culture, cuisine, and people ❤️ Marhabanbikum lMaghbreb 🇲🇦⭐️‼️

This weekend featured beachy views, city strolls, and memories to last a lifetime 💙☀️ Session 1 spent their Saturday enjoying of all the charm and beauty of Tangier, the coastal port of Morocco!

Our high school students enjoying a ride on moroccan flukas on the Bouregeg river between Rabat and its sister city, Salé! Yallah !

Flukas have been used for centuries in Morocco for fishing and transportation, and have become integral to the local culture ! ⭐️

Another example of how learning can happen anywhere at CIEE! Land or sea, the adventures and educational possibilities are endless!

Our HSSA Service and Leadership students have officially arrived in the beautiful beach city of Mohammedia! 🌊⚽ Over the next three weeks, they’ll embark on an incredible journey of learning, service, and leadership. Today, they enjoyed a friendly soccer match as a break from orientation, followed by a tour of the city with our peers to discover their new surroundings.

it’s not all fun and games here at CIEE Morocco … but sometimes it is 🫣🃏🏓

between classes, presentations, and cultural activities, our students have also been taking full advantage of our downtime activities 🤾‍♀️ While learning is at the forefront of what we do here, that’s not to say we can’t have fun while or in between doing it!
