These four years of taking pictures have been a blast. I used to say that gear shouldn’t define your style, and that most of the time, basic gear is just what you need to create art that speaks to you. Yet, my style evolved in a combination of specific skills, parameters, shortcuts, that still rely on gear.

And this gear tends now to be big and noticeable. Which prevents me from getting it out from my bag in the first place…

So, as a friend suggested, maybe a soft reboot could be healthy. Changing brands, opting for a (much) smaller camera for my everyday routine represents quite a change. The Fuji x30 is almost ten years old, has a sensor almost as small as those of the iPhone, produces 12MP images … and is making me feel like i’m starting Year One all over.

Maybe that’s the whole point.
