We are delighted to announce Rachid Bouhamdi’s solo show, Holding Space, opening Saturday January 31st, 2026. In his recent body of work, Bouhamidi explores traditions, rituals, and celebrations as spaces of memory and shared experience. .bouhamidi
Jeff Koehler writes in his essay for Bouhamidi’s upcoming exhibition:
“L’enfance,” as the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard observed, “est certainement plus grande que la réalité.” (“Childhood is certainly greater than reality.”)
“The inner world of the young is a larger, more expansive place than it becomes in adulthood. Things arrive magnified—bigger, brighter, more exuberant—with no firm boundaries between what is felt and seen and imagined.
Bouhamidi’s new exhibition at Galerie SINIYA28 explores celebrations and traditions that nestle in the memory. One of the focal points is the Moroccan bride. Like so much in Bouhamidi’s art, she, too, took root years ago in his childhood imagination”
Rachid Bouhamidi was born in Palm Springs in 1981. He lives and works in Los Angeles, United States. He grew up in Southern California to a French mother and a Moroccan father. He earned his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2006 and his MFA from Boston University.
