It is with profound sadness and deep sorrow that the Yerma Gnaoua Association and the team of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival learned of the passing of Maâlem Abdelaziz Soudani, one of the leading figures of Gnaoua music in Essaouira.
Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to preserving and promoting this ancestral heritage. Through his talent, commitment and devotion, he made a significant contribution to safeguarding Gnaoua music and passing it on to future generations.
On this painful occasion, the Yerma Gnaoua Association and the team of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival extend their deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to his family, his artistic family, and to all Maâlems and lovers of Gnaoua music.
May Almighty God grant him His infinite mercy, welcome him into His eternal paradise, and give his family and loved ones patience and strength during this difficult time.
ببالغ الحزن والأسى، تلقت جمعية يرمى كناوة وفريق مهرجان كناوة وموسيقى العالم نبأ وفاة المعلم عبد العزيز السوداني، أحد أعلام فن كناوة بمدينة الصويرة، والذي كرس حياته لخدمة هذا التراث الأصيل، وساهم بعطائه وإخلاصه في صون الفن الكناوي ونقله إلى الأجيال الصاعدة.
