The Hejjayti project began with a simple idea. It started as a podcast exercise at ISADAC, three authentic stories paired with three songs, a way to ask and share: what is the story, from people to people. That small spark grew into a concept, then into a song, and eventually into an international publication trough Avanca | Cinema
I have always been happy about the reflections and intersections that come from unique perspectives, and I remain open to collaboration and help. This project could never exist without the people who shaped it. Hejjayti was born from a vision and carried forward step by step.
Four years ago, .Amine.chabakouni kindly helped me sketch the first logo, a gesture that supported the early days of the project. Later, I continued to develop the identity with Laxus Mcfury, who created the logo we see now, perfect in every detail. He is not only my friend and co‑founder in everything you see, but also a man who believes in me. Gratitude to him now or in the future will never be enough. What began as friendship over PlayStation 2 became a solid bond of more than ten years, filled with projects, creativity, and even failure.
Without Green Olive Arts, this project as a platform and website would never have come to light. The Emerging Grant Residency helped secure the financial and technical foundation and gave birth to the chapter “Once Upon a Time in Tetouan,” a project that seeks to give the city its sonic identity. It is part of a larger vision to create a sound map of Morocco. I want to thank .Talha, who believed in this project, lent me her sound equipment, and mixed the final version of the work.
My gratitude extends to the Green Olive staff: Rachel, Theresa, Nathan, Naoufal, and Aya. Special thanks to Wafaa for the delicious Moroccan meals, and to Zainab for the tea, the help, and the constant support. To my cohort of Winter 2026: dear Mary Reed, thank you for sharing the studio and beautiful moments; Daria, for the laughter; Abbigayle, for the interesting conversations; Andrea, for sharing the exhibition room and encouraging me as the project kept evolving.
I want to thank Tetouan and its people. They came, they listened, and they embraced the city through sound. To the wonderful community who believed and immersed themselves in the project, to the artists who loved the concept and asked for more, I am deeply grateful. To those who could not attend because of the weather, your messages and calls felt like true support. And of course, to my friends and family, whose belief in me makes everything possible.
Thank you all. Hejjayti: Where One’s Story Becomes Ours ✨
