CONSTRUCTED REALITIES
Opening 18 June in Casablanca
Coming this week to Loft Art Gallery Casablanca, Constructed Realities brings together works by Mustapha Azeroual (.azeroual), Hiba Baddou ( ), Joana Choumali (), Nicolas Henry (), M’hammed Kilito () and Mous Lamrabat ().
Marking the first group exhibition in the gallery’s history dedicated entirely to photography, the exhibition explores the medium as a space that moves between document and fiction, observation and imagination.
Across documentary practices, staged compositions, embroidery, abstraction, and experimental processes, the artists presented expand photography beyond its conventional role as a tool of representation, treating it instead as a space of construction, interpretation, and possibility. Through landscape, portraiture, performance, material experimentation, and collective storytelling, the exhibition explores the many ways realities can be framed, mediated, and reimagined.
Opening at a particularly significant moment for the medium in Morocco, Constructed Realities coincides with the forthcoming opening of the Musée de la Photographie et des Arts Visuels de Casablanca and the international celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the invention of photography.
