My name is Obesi Otasome Benjamin, also known as Obesi Ben Otas on Social Media.
Born over three decades ago into a 3rd world country, where I have since lived with this burning desire to help my country out of political bo***ge.
63 years after independence, Nigeria is still struggling to sustain her identity among developing countries.
The abundance of resources is mostly quoted as the cause of poverty in the country. This is not what makes me sad, though. What makes me sad is the perpetual silence by the most impacted people.
I live in a society where your silence is considered as your biggest source of income and safety.
You dare not speak against the political evil in the land, because this evil is what fuels the bank accounts of your benefactors.
You will be considered a fool and an enemy, if you raise your voice against political injustice, and then the victims of this evil will be mobilized against you. Some of these victims will be funded to blackmail and malign your character.
They will be empowered to turn the social media into an ocean where you may drown like the Titanic Jack.
Those feeding from the injustice in the land should not forget, they are feeding on the tears of the majority destitute and beggarly in the villages.
For now, my people think they have no choice because of the hunger in the land.
But...
I HAVE A DREAM, one day, very soon, the voice of the people will be wealthier than the riches of our political slave masters.
We have kept quiet for too long. It is time to make our voices heard.
Public resources must be judiciously utilized to make life more meaningful for our people. Our leaders must be held accountable. They should account for every public Kobo they are elected/appointed to manage.
Let us bring our voices together to create...
we want.
