بُني هذا المسجد في عهد درغوت باشا وقد تميزت ولايتة بعدة انجازات عمرانية هامة، فقد اهتم في فترة حكمه بوضع استحكامات وتشييد المبانى كمسجده هذا الذي بناه بالمنطقة القريبة من باب البحر لمدينة طرابلس حوالي سنة 969 هـــ.
This mosque was built during the reign of Dargot Pasha, and his mandate was marked by several important urban achievements. During his reign, he was interested in laying fortifications and constructing buildings such as his mosque, which he built in the area near Bab al-Bahr city of Tripoli around the year 969 AH💫
