Ar prieku ielūdzam uz mākslinieka Jurģa Petera izstādes "Uzmācīgās domas" atklāšanu ceturtdien, 28. maijā plkst. 18.00 RIXC galerijā, Lenču ielā 2.

:::: Atstāta viena, mākslīgā intelekta (MI) sistēma iegrimst sevī. Tā barojas pati no sevis radītā, klejojot starp saviem iekšējiem stāvokļiem – mirdzošām, abstraktām kompozīcijām, kuras veido smalki šūnu tīklojumi, ritmiskas punktu matricas un kontrastējošs digitālais troksnis. Lai gan šis saturs šķietami nelīdzinās nekam konkrētam, tas iemieso modeļa treniņa datos dominējošās vizuālās struktūras. Tās ir kā domas, pie kurām MI atgriežas vienatnē. ::::

❕Atklāšanas programmas ietvaros plkst. 19.00 norisināsies saruna ar mākslinieku un izstādes tūre.

Izstāde būs apskatāma līdz 2026. gada 18. jūlijam RIXC galerijā, Lenču ielā 2, no trešdienas līdz sestdienai, no plkst. 12.00 līdz plkst. 18.00.

We invite you to the opening of the 'Intrusive Thoughts' exhibition by artist Jurgis Peters, on Thursday, May 28, at 6:00 p.m. at the RIXC Gallery, Lenču iela 2.

:::: Left alone, the artificial intelligence (AI) system sinks into itself. It feeds on its own creations, wandering between its internal states–glowing, abstract compositions formed by fine cellular networks, rhythmic dot matrices, and contrasting digital noise. Although this content seems to resemble nothing concrete, it embodies the visual structures dominant in the model’s training data. They are like thoughts that the AI returns to in solitude. ::::

❕The opening program will continue at 7:00 p.m. with an artist talk and exhibition tour.

The exhibition will be on view until July 18, 2026.
Opening hours: Wednesday through Saturday, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, RIXC Gallery, Lenču iela 2, Riga. Free admission.

We are happy to announce that the Taiwanese artist Chia-Yi Chen (陳家翊) has arrived at the RIXC residency in Riga! The residency takes place in collaboration with ZONE SOUND 融聲創意 (Taiwan).

This residency marks the second year that RIXC hosts Taiwanese artists as part of its residency programs. This initiative is part of the Subterranea project, a collaboration between Zone Sound Creative and RIXC, which brings several Taiwanese creatives to Latvia from 2025 to 2026.

Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, National Culture and Arts Foundation, Sonic Sensory Lab, New Taipei City Government Youth Department, Zone Sound Creative (Taiwan).

📣 Open Call: Artists are invited to apply for participation in the International symposium and Exhibition “ElektrON – The Future of Amber”! 💎

The association ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education has launched the project “ElektrON – The Future of Amber” through this open call. The artistic aim of the project is to rediscover the lesser-known properties of amber - a symbol of identity for Liepāja and the Land of (un)rest. 🌪️

Artists are encouraged to explore innovative and provocative ways of using and representing fossil resources in contemporary contexts. The selected artworks will be presented in the final exhibition at Liepāja Museum from January 8 to June 27, 2027, marking the opening of the European Capital of Culture year.

Five artists will be selected to participate in the international symposium on the Baltic Sea coast in Liepāja and Pāvilosta, taking place from June 12–14 this year. 🌊

🔴 Honorarium: EUR 1500
🔴 Travel, materials, and accommodation costs will be covered

📣 Atklātais konkurss: Mākslinieki aicināti pieteikties konkursā dalībai starptautiskā simpozijā un izstādē "ElektrON – dzintara nākotne"! 💎

Biedrība ASTE. Art, Science, Technology, Education ar šo atklāto konkursu uzsāk projektu “ElektrON – dzintara nākotne”. Projekta mākslinieciskais mērķis ir jaunatklāt dzintaru kā Liepājas un visas (ne)miera zemes identitātes zīmi, pievēršoties tā mazāk iepazītajām īpašībām. 🌪️

Mākslinieki aicināti meklēt inovatīvus un provokatīvus veidus, kā mūsdienās izmantot un interpretēt fosilos resursus. Mākslas darbi būs skatāmi noslēguma izstādē Liepājas muzejā no 2027. gada 8. janvāra līdz 27. jūnijam, iezīmējot Eiropas kultūras galvaspilsētas gada sākumu.

Konkursā tiks izvēlēti pieci mākslinieki, kuri piedalīsies starptautiskajā simpozijā Baltijas jūras krastā - Liepājā un Pāvilostā - šī gada 12. - 14. jūnijam. 🌊

Last week we joined the EMAP (European Media Art Platform) jury meeting in Milan to select more than 16 artists for this year’s production residencies and programme.

Many thanks to MEET Digital Culture Center for hosting us, and to our partners for the engaging discussions and exchange throughout the meeting.

The results will be announced very soon! 📢

EMAP is a European network of 16 organisations (of which RIXC is a member) working at the intersection of digital art, bio art, and interdisciplinary practices. Through an annual open call, and with the Co-funding of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, it offers production residencies and creates a context for exchange between artists and institutions across Europe throughout the network.

Beyond the residencies, the platform promotes the visibility of the projects through exhibitions, festivals, conferences, and workshops, connecting artists with an international network.

The call for EMAP 2027 will open this autumn.
