✨ Today, on May 6, representatives of the Jelgava City municipal institution “Kultūra” and the Jelgava Regional Tourism Centre visited the city of Šiauliai in Lithuania, where they took part in a press conference. During the event, the upcoming 20th International Sand Sculpture Festival, which will take place on May 23 in Jelgava, was presented.

🏖️ Latvian sculptor Agnese Rudzīte-Kirillova and Spanish sculptor Roger Ferralla are creating a demo sculpture on Pasta Island for the 20th International Sand Sculpture Festival in Jelgava.

🦖 The sculpture “Dinosaur Gathering” depicts an idyllic scene from ancient times. It may have looked like a day in the Jurassic period, when different dinosaurs had gathered together to spend their everyday lives. Overlooking the scene from above is a massive titanosaurs, while a flock of flying predators, pterodactyls, is an ever-present part of the landscape. A pair of brontosauruses blends harmoniously into the composition, and a triceratops has also joined this gathering.

🦖 An impressive scene is already taking shape on Pasta Island – work is underway on the demo sculpture for the 20th International Sand Sculpture Festival! It is being created by Latvian sculptor Agnese Rudzīte-Kirillova and Spanish artist Roger Ferralla, bringing to life the large-scale piece “Dinosaur Meeting”.

🏖️ This striking sculpture, reaching 6 meters in height and 12 meters in width, will become the central highlight of the festival and is planned to be completed by the end of April.

🌍 Starting from May 17, the real creative buzz will begin in Jelgava – 15 sculptors from 10 countries (Turkey, USA, Ukraine, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia) will arrive to transform sand into stories inspired by this year’s theme, “Tales of the Jurassic Era”.

🏖️ This year, Pasta Island will transform into a Jurassic world where dinosaurs, ancient sea creatures, and rulers of the skies come to life in sand. Internationally acclaimed sculptors will showcase the power of nature, the evolution of life, and the balance between different elements of the world.

🌞 The entire festival day at Pasta Island will be filled with energy, joy, and a diverse program from 10:00 until 2:00 at night. Visitors can enjoy children’s performances, foam parties, wooden games, creative workshops, and improv theatre shows, creating a lively and surprise-filled atmosphere.

🎶 In the evening, the celebration reaches its peak at the “Mītava” open-air concert stage, featuring a powerful lineup: Samanta Tīna, “Kautkaili”, “Pienvedēja Piedzīvojumi”, and Fiņķis — an energetic and unforgettable summer opening concert.

🏛️ The event is organized by the City of Jelgava and the institution “Kultūra”, supported by AS “Ramirent Baltic”.

🌟 Stories of the Jurassic Will Come to Life in Sand! 🌟

🦖 On May 23rd, Pasta Island in Jelgava will host the 20th International Sand Sculpture Festival in a special anniversary atmosphere, inviting visitors on an exciting journey millions of years back in time. Jurassic stories will rise from sand – featuring mighty dinosaurs, ancient sea creatures, and rulers of the skies. 🌊✨

As part of the competition, 15 talented sculptors from 10 countries – Turkey, the USA, Ukraine, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia – will reveal the power of nature, the evolution of life, and the balance between the elements.

Visitors will also be amazed by the impressive demo sculpture “Dinosaur Gathering”, created by Agnese Rudzīte-Kirillova and Roger Ferralla, as well as the entrance sculptures by Sanita Rāviņa.
