🔹On 28 and 29 April, the European Institute of Cultural Routes hosted a training seminar for candidate routes interested in the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe certification.
🔹The programme of the seminar focused on the criteria, requirements and procedures for certification and included workshops, bilateral meetings and presentations from experts and currently certified routes.
🔹The participants represented fifteen networks interested in the certification.

🔹Les 28 et 29 avril, l'Institut Européen des Itinéraires Culturels a organisé un séminaire de formation à l'intention des itinéraires candidats intéressés par la certification « Itinéraire Culturel du Conseil de l'Europe ».
🔹Le programme du séminaire était axé sur les critères, les exigences et les procédures de certification et comprenait des ateliers, des réunions bilatérales ainsi que des présentations d'experts et d'itinéraires déjà certifiés.

🔹The seminar “Republic of Moldova in the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe” took place from 15 to 17 April in Chișinău, bringing together 10 Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe and more than 70 local participants.
🔹It was co-organised by the ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova, the National Tourism Office and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, within the programme of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
🔹Aimed to enhance the visibility and engagement of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Moldova, the seminar facilitated contacts between the Moldovan stakeholders and certified Cultural Routes.

🔹On December 11-12, the Informal Contact Group of Cultural Routes convened for its inaugural meeting at the European Institute of Cultural Routes in Luxembourg.
🔹This group was established to provide guidance and support to the secretariat, ensuring that the perspectives of Cultural Routes are integrated into programme development.
🔹Additionally, it serves as a liaison between the secretariat and the Cultural Routes, focusing on issues related to networking and collaboration.
🔹The group includes representatives from various Cultural Routes: Antonio Barone, Phoenicians’ Route; Benedetta Diamanti, European Route of Ceramics; Danko Ćosić, Roman Emperors and Danube Wine Route; Inger Harlevi, The Hansa; Simone Zagrodnik, European Route of Historical Thermal Towns; Quintín Correas Domingo, European Routes of Emperor Charles V.

🔹On December 4, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with Aquileia symbolising its rich millennial heritage, celebrated the recognition of the Romea Strata as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
🔹This certification was affirmed by the Governing Board of the European Institute of Cultural Routes during the 14th Advisory Forum held in Cappadocia, Türkiye.
🔹The event brought together representatives from the Council of Europe, distinguished international figures, scholars, and local administrators, alongside partners from the Romea Strata network.
🔹Key speakers included Mauro Bordin, President of the Regional Council of Friuli-Venezia Giulia; Emanuele Zorino, Mayor of Aquileia; Rui Gomes, Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes; Angela Ferretti from the Italian Ministry of Culture; and Don Raimondo Sinibaldi, President of the European Association Romea Strata. They emphasised the route's significance as a transnational cultural infrastructure that fosters connections among communities, heritage, and local development.

🔹Le 4 décembre, la région Frioul-Vénétie Julienne, dont Aquileia symbolise le riche patrimoine millénaire, a célébré la reconnaissance de la Romea Strata comme Itinéraire culturel du Conseil de l'Europe.

🔹After 18 months of engaging activities in Italy, Greece, and Türkiye, the HIKE project (HIKing for a Healthier LifestylE along European Cultural Routes) successfully concluded in October 2025.
🔹Following this achievement, the new initiative, HIKE4ALL (Hiking for ALL along the cultural routes), is set to commence in January 2026, expanding the HIKE model to encompass six cultural routes, including four certified by the Council of Europe: the Via Francigena in the Piedmont Region (Italy), Camino Lebaniego (part of the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim Routes, Spain), the Route of Saint Olav Ways (Norway) and the Cyril and Methodius Route (Czech Republic).
🔹Coordinated by the European Association of the Via Francigena Ways (AEVF), this 12-month project has a budget of 300,000 euros and prioritises accessibility, inclusion, and equal participation, aiming to make hiking and cultural experiences available to everyone, including individuals with special needs and disabilities.

🔹On November 20, members of the “European Cultural Route of Saints Cyril and Methodius” international association gathered at the South Moravian Regional Authority in Brno, Czech Republic.
🔹This significant meeting brought together representatives from four European nations, namely the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia, with additional participants joining remotely.
🔹During this assembly, the association welcomed a new member, the National Library of Saints Cyril and Methodius located in Sofia, which expanded the organisation’s membership to a total of 44 members across 10 European countries.
🔹The Cyril and Methodius Route has been recognised as a certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 2021 and was recertified in 2025.

🔹Le 20 novembre, les membres de l'association internationale « Route culturelle européenne des saints Cyrille et Méthode » se sont réunis à l'Autorité régionale de Moravie du Sud à Brno, en République tchèque.
🔹Cette importante réunion a rassemblé des représentants de quatre pays européens, à savoir la République tchèque, la Slovaquie, la Bulgarie et la Macédoine du Nord, ainsi que d'autres participants à distance.
🔹Au cours de cette assemblée, l'association a accueilli un nouveau membre, la Bibliothèque nationale Saints Cyrille et Méthode située à Sofia, ce qui a porté le nombre total de membres de l'organisation à 44, répartis dans 10 pays européens.
🔹La Route de Cyrille et Méthode est reconnue comme Itinéraire culturel certifié du Conseil de l'Europe depuis 2021 et a été recertifiée en 2025.

🔹On November 17, representatives of the European Paper Route visited the Secretariat of the European Institute of Cultural Routes in Luxembourg.
🔹This meeting provided a platform to discuss the strategic development of the European Paper Route, focusing on the mission and essential components of the Cultural Routes programme, including certification criteria and the timeline for evaluation cycles.
🔹Attendees included representatives from France and Italy in person, while participants from Portugal and Germany joined the discussion online.
🔹Established in 2024, the network links various European towns and sites significant to the history of papermaking, such as Angoulême, Fabriano, Barcelona, Cappellades, Heidelberg, Lviv, and Santa Maria da Feira.

🔹The 14th Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe took place in the remarkable cultural setting of Cappadocia, Türkiye, from 22 to 24 October 2025.
🔹This year’s Forum, themed "Cultural Routes and Landscapes: Advancing Heritage Protection through Cultural and Sustainable Tourism," coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Council of Europe Landscape Convention.
🔹More than 300 stakeholders of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme attended the Forum.
The Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) officially welcomed the Netherlands and Ireland as new member states.
🔹During the official opening session, a certification ceremony was held for the three newly certified Cultural Routes: Romea Strata, Pyrenean Freedom Routes, and Saint Francis’ Ways.
🔹Inspiring initiatives from five Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe were acknowledged during the Forum's closing session.

🔹Le 14e Forum Consultatif des Itinéraires culturels du Conseil de l'Europe s'est tenu dans le cadre culturel remarquable de la Cappadoce, en Turquie, du 22 au 24 octobre 2025.

🔹Plus de 300 parties prenantes du programme des Itinéraires culturels du Conseil de l'Europe ont participé au Forum.
🔹L'Accord Partiel Élargi sur les Itinéraires culturels du Conseil de l'Europe (APE) a officiellement accueilli les Pays-Bas et l'Irlande en tant que nouveaux états membres.
🔹Au cours de la séance d'ouverture officielle, une cérémonie de certification a été organisée pour les trois Itinéraires culturels nouvellement certifiés : Romea Strata, Itinéraires Liberté Pyrénées et les Chemins de Saint François.

🔹One of the new pilot milestones of the Cyril and Methodius Route was ceremonially unveiled at the Velehrad pilgrimage site last month.
🔹This occasion symbolically marked the conclusion of the international conference held at Velehrad, which celebrated the successful re-certification of the Cyril and Methodius Route as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.
🔹The conference commenced with remarks from Mr. Radim Holiš, the Governor of the Zlín Region, and Mr. Ilja Kocian from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, member of the Bureau of the EPA Governing Board. The ceremony was attended by 70 participants.
🔹The Cyril and Methodius Route links important sites associated with the lives and legacy of Saints Cyril and Methodius and has been recognised as a certified Cultural Route of the Council of Europe since 2021.

🔹L'un des nouveaux jalons pilotes de la Route de Cyrille et Méthode a été inauguré le mois dernier sur le site de pèlerinage de Velehrad.
